BlaBlaCar is seeking a confirmed Backend Engineer to join the Payment Squad. You will help build a reliable, scalable platform that supports the full payment lifecycle, fraud prevention, and compliance.

You will collaborate with a team of 10 Backend and Frontend Engineers and a Product Manager, reporting to the squad's Engineering Manager, contributing from design to deployment. This is a hybrid role with ownership and cross-functional impact.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in a growth-focused engineering environment.
• Fluent in Java with Spring ecosystem and modern backend patterns.
• Hands-on experience with Git, Docker, Kubernetes and monitoring Datadog.
• Strong communication skills and English proficiency.

Responsabilités

• Participate in the full application lifecycle from design to deployment, including monitoring and support.
• Collaborate with product/design teams to define features for BlaBlaCar members.
• Share technical expertise across a cross-functional team and mentor others.

Your Mission

We are looking for a Confirmed Backend Engineer to join the Payment Squad. They manage BlaBlaCar’s payment solutions that provide reliability, trust and smooth end-to-end experience.

As a Backend Engineer, your role will be to contribute to delivering a reliable and, scalable platform that supports the full payment lifecycle, fraud fight and compliance requirements. This includes participating in the integration of new payment methods, interacting with our numerous payment services providers, and displaying a strong ownership of the payment experience from end-to-end together with frontend developers.

You will be reporting to the squad's Engineering Manager and working with a team of 10 Backend and Frontend Software Engineers and a Product Manager.

Your responsibilities

• Participate in the whole application lifecycle, from early meetings and design to development, test strategy, and deployment and of course, monitoring, alerting, and support.
• Participate in the definition of the features with the product and design teams to find the most relevant solutions for our members
• Interact with people with different roles and backgrounds, and share your technical expertise with a mix of technical, product, and business people

Your qualifications

• You have 3+ years of experience from companies with a strong engineering culture, within a growth context.
• You are fluent in Java and know frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, JUnit, and Mockito.
• You have hands-on experience with Git, Docker, Kubernetes , and monitoring solutions (Datadog).
• You know what service-oriented architecture looks like, and you can determine when to apply a given architectural pattern.You have good communication skills, you’re humble and you're a team player.
• Full working proficiency in English
