Job summary

BlaBlaCar, the world’s leading community-based travel app, is seeking a Confirmed Backend Engineer to join the Payment Squad in Paris. You will contribute to a reliable, scalable payment platform, handling the full lifecycle from integration of new methods to fraud and compliance, collaborating with frontend and product teams.

You’ll work with a team of 10 backend and frontend engineers and an Engineering Manager, reporting to the squad’s manager.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend experience in a growth-focused company.
• Fluent in Java and Spring (Spring Boot, JUnit, Mockito).
• Hands-on with Git, Docker, Kubernetes, and Datadog.
• Familiar with service-oriented architecture (SOA).
• Strong communication, teamwork and English proficiency.
• Alignment with BlaBlaPrinciples.

Your Mission

We are looking for a Confirmed Backend Engineer to join the Payment Squad. They manage BlaBlaCar’s payment solutions that provide reliability, trust and smooth end-to-end experience.

As a Backend Engineer, your role will be to contribute to delivering a reliable and, scalable platform that supports the full payment lifecycle, fraud fight and compliance requirements. This includes participating in the integration of new payment methods, interacting with our numerous payment services providers, and displaying a strong ownership of the payment experience from end-to-end together with frontend developers.

You will be reporting to the squad’s Engineering Manager and working with a team of 10 Backend and Frontend Software Engineers and a Product Manager.

Your responsibilities

• Participate in the whole application lifecycle, from early meetings and design to development, test strategy, and deployment and of course, monitoring, alerting, and support.
• Participate in the definition of the features with the product and design teams to find the most relevant solutions for our members
• Interact with people with different roles and backgrounds, and share your technical expertise with a mix of technical, product, and business people

Your qualifications

• You have 3+ years of experience from companies with a strong engineering culture, within a growth context.
• You are fluent in Java and know frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, JUnit, and Mockito.
• You have hands-on experience with Git, Docker, Kubernetes , and monitoring solutions (Datadog).
• You know what service-oriented architecture looks like, and you can determine when to apply a given architectural pattern.
• You have good communication skills, you’re humble and you’re a team player.
• Full working proficiency in English
