Sotheby’s France in Paris seeks a Specialist in the Books and Manuscripts department to manage sourcing, estimating, cataloguing, and coordinating auctions in Paris and international sale series. The role includes developing key client relationships and assisting with business getting while coordinating with internal teams.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of five years of experience in books and manuscripts, is proficient in at least one additional language, and demonstrates strong writing,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required, with an advanced degree preferred in a related field.
• Expertise in Books and Manuscripts with a minimum of five years of experience either in an auction house or dealer setting.
• Proficiency in a second language preferred.

Responsabilités

• Assist in cataloguing Books and Manuscripts sales in Paris and ensure research and estimation are thorough.
• Negotiate sale terms and provide client service throughout auction and private sales.
• Coordinate with Head of Department, Business Manager and colleagues to meet annual operating plan.
• Interact with Press and Communications on properties to create unified marketing campaigns and press efforts.
• Aid in exhibition planning, installation and property insurance or appraisals as needed.
• Develop and manage relationships with clients, dealers and collectors to expand consignors and buyers.
• Support with compliance and ensure sale processes adhere to policy.
• Maintain sale running lists and communicate promises to clients with department leadership.
• Assist with post-sale issues and inquiries from the department.
