Job summary

Bain & Company, Inc. in Paris is seeking an AI Engineering Manager to design, build, and deploy generative AI systems for enterprise clients.

You will lead end-to-end delivery, own technical direction, and mentor engineers, while collaborating with consultants across disciplines. The role focuses on scalable architectures, HITL processes, and responsible AI, with travel to client sites and Bain home offices.

Qualifications

• 6-11+ years in software/ML/AI roles with hands-on building experience.
• Proven experience shipping generative AI features or systems end-to-end with ownership of workstreams.
• Strong ability to guide peers, coordinate workstreams, and drive technical decisions.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, development, and deployment of generative AI systems and multi-agent workflows within client engagements, taking end-to-end accountability for assigned workstreams.
• Architect and build multi-component AI pipelines, including: Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG); Fine-tuning; Embedding generation; Hybrid retrieval strategies.
• Implement and integrate reasoning, tool use, function calling, and orchestration across AI workflows.
• Build and lead delivery of agentic systems with scalable memory architecture and tool integration.
• Drive workstreams from research to production deployment, maintaining quality and pace.
• Build and maintain APIs, microservices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native deployments with observability.
• Establish GenAIOps processes for testing, latency monitoring, and continual improvement.
• Balance performance, safety, and cost; implement guardrails and HITL workflows; align with Responsible AI standards.
• Design evaluation frameworks for hallucination, relevance, latency, and cost.
• Partner with product, engineering, data science, ethics, and infra teams for robust systems.
• Communicate technical decisions clearly to stakeholders and contribute to architecture discussions.
• Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge on RAG, agents, and AI safety.
• Foster a culture of excellence, learning, and inclusion within the AIS engineering community.
