Mandarin Oriental Paris is seeking a Deputy Director of Engineering to join its executive team. Based at the Paris property, you will lead, coordinate and drive technical projects across buildings, systems, and infrastructure, while ensuring luxury standards and safety compliance.

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Paris within the Engineering Department in Paris, under the supervision of the Chief Engineer, the Deputy Director of Engineering is responsible for leading, coordinating, and exercising functional authority over the planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of technical projects (new construction, renovation, repair, and maintenance) involving buildings, grounds, plants, machinery, and equipment.
Supports the Director Engineer in overseeing all technical operations and projects.
Leads and coordinates planning, organization, and execution of technical activities.
Manages new construction, renovation, repair, and maintenance projects.
Ensures proper integration and alignment of technical initiatives across the property.
Supervises building, grounds, plant, machinery, and equipment maintenance.
Controls project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
Ensures compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
Coordinates with internal departments and external contractors.
Provides technical expertise and guidance to engineering teams.
Monitors performance and ensures continuous improvement of technical operations.
Supports decision-making by reporting project progress and challenges.
Assists in long-term planning for infrastructure, equipment upgrades, and capital projects.
Ensure that Mandarin Oriental’s Safe, Sound & Sustainable standards are maintained and fully implemented. These standards must be regularly monitored and reviewed to achieve a 100% score in the Safety, Health & Sustainability audit.
Experience:Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar position (Assistant Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Manager, or Maintenance Team Leader), mandatory within the Luxury Hospitality sector (4/5-star hotels or Palace properties).
Education: Bachelor’s to Master’s degree (Bac+2 to Bac+5 equivalent) in HVAC Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Management Systems (BMS), or Building Maintenance.
Technical Expertise: Strong multi-disciplinary technical knowledge (HVAC, electrical systems, fire safety systems, hydraulics/spa facilities), thorough understanding of ERP and occupational health & safety regulations, and proficiency with maintenance management software (such as Alice / ACTABL).
Languages: Fluent French and professional-level English are essential.
Personal Skills: Hands-on leadership, strong attention to detail aligned with luxury hospitality standards, excellent ability to manage stress and emergency situations, and impeccable interpersonal skills.
