Job summary

Metso seeks a Senior AI Engineer to join the AI Enablement team in Espoo or Tampere, Finland. This senior role anchors practical AI delivery, aligns with enterprise AI strategy, and builds reusable patterns for scalable production systems.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, cloud platforms, data and AI engineering, platform engineering, enterprise technology consulting, or related technical leadership roles.
• Experience shipping AI-enabled solutions into production — combining LLMs, RAG, embeddings, vector databases, agentic patterns, workflow orchestration, classical ML or conventional software and data pipelines.
• Experience with modern AI engineering practices such as evaluation, observability, prompt and version management, LLMOps/MLOps, cost and latency optimization, reliability monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical design and delivery of selected high-impact AI solutions from discovery through production, adoption and continuous improvement.
• Partner with business and functional stakeholders to identify core problems and define them in solvable, measurable terms.
• Translate enterprise AI priorities into scalable technical solutions and reference architectures adopted by distributed teams.
• Design end-to-end AI solution architectures covering agents, data flows, APIs, security, and human-in-the-loop processes.
• Define evaluation, monitoring and continuous improvement criteria for AI systems.
• Drive lighthouse enterprise AI initiatives while managing dependencies, trade-offs and risks.
• Mentor engineers and strengthen Metso’s internal AI engineering capability.
