Nordic in Oulu, Finland, is seeking an experienced embedded firmware engineer to join the Long-Range BU R&D team. You will develop platform firmware, optimize RTOS and drivers, and support build systems with CI/CD pipelines.

This independent role offers a broad scope and growth across a wide range of areas. You will work on pre-silicon bring-up, write tests for CI, and share knowledge through code reviews and documentation.

Formación

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Communications Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in embedded software development.
• Very good knowledge of C, especially in environments with restricted memory and performance constraints.
• Strong problem solving and debugging skills.
• Good understanding of the Arm Cortex-M architecture and embedded operating systems, such as Zephyr.
• Experience with CI/CD tooling, git and automation.
• Comfortable using modern AI-assisted development tools in day-to-day work.
• Prior pre-silicon development experience (emulation, FPGA) is an advantage.
• Familiarity with OFDM based physical layer or RF control development is an advantage.

Responsabilidades

• Develop, maintain and optimise embedded firmware, including RTOS configuration, device drivers and common platform APIs, so that feature development on top of them stays efficient.
• Maintain and improve the cross-platform build environment shared by our firmware teams, and CI pipelines, using Docker or other containerised setups.
• Bring up and develop firmware in pre-silicon environments such as emulators and FPGA platforms.
• Write unit and integration tests for the firmware you develop, and keep them running in our CI pipelines (Bamboo, Jenkins).
• Share your knowledge through code reviews, documentation and technical guidance to the team.
