Job summary

Nordic Semi in Oulu, Finland, seeks an RF Firmware Engineer to join the Long-Range BU R&D team. You will develop the firmware layer near the radio, handling RF transceiver control, calibration and timing to meet 3GPP frame structures.

You’ll collaborate with RFIC, physical layer and system engineers on features from spec to millions of devices. The role combines low-level embedded software with RF and telecommunications knowledge; experience with C, ARM Cortex-M and Python is highly valued, as

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a technical field.
• 3+ years of embedded software development experience near radio/ RF/ physical layer hardware.
• Strong C programming skills in resource-constrained real-time environments.
• Familiarity with Arm Cortex-M, interrupt handling and low-level drivers.
• Knowledge of cellular telecommunications (3GPP LTE/eRedCap/NTN) concepts.
• Experience with RF transceiver control or front-end control is a plus.
• Experience with Python for test automation, and with git and CI/CD workflows is a plus.
• Lab experience with RF test equipment and RF measurements is an advantage.
• Comfort with AI-assisted development tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain embedded firmware for RF transceiver control and timing sequences.
• Write and review code, tests, and documentation; improve tooling.
• Keep firmware within memory, latency and power budgets of a low-power modem.
• Contribute to firmware interfaces and test modes for production/test/certification.
• Assist silicon and board bring-up with RFIC and system engineers; debug RF issues.
• Collaborate with system architects and hardware designers on RF feature input.
