Nordic in Oulu, Finland, is seeking an experienced embedded firmware engineer to join the Long-Range BU R&D team. You will develop platform firmware, optimize RTOS and drivers, and support build systems with CI/CD pipelines.

This independent role offers a broad scope and growth across a wide range of areas. You will work on pre-silicon bring-up, write tests for CI, and share knowledge through code reviews and documentation.

Competenze

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Communications Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in embedded software development.
• Very good knowledge of C, especially in environments with restricted memory and performance constraints.
• Strong problem solving and debugging skills.
• Good understanding of the Arm Cortex-M architecture and embedded operating systems, such as Zephyr.
• Experience with CI/CD tooling, git and automation.
• Comfortable using modern AI-assisted development tools in day-to-day work.
• Prior pre-silicon development experience (emulation, FPGA) is an advantage.
• Familiarity with OFDM based physical layer or RF control development is an advantage.

About the job

Join our Long-Range BU (Business Unit) R&D organisation and develop the platform firmware that the rest of our software relies on. Your role in the team is to abstract the complexity of the hardware away from the higher layers of firmware: improving the RTOS, drivers and common APIs, and supporting your colleagues with build systems, CI/CD pipelines and the tooling around them. This is an individual-contributor position with a broad scope that can be shaped around your interests and skills, and it lets you grow your expertise across a wide range of areas. You will be supported by experienced colleagues and modern development tooling, and your work will end up in products deployed in millions of connected devices.
