Job summary

Fiskars Group seeks a Senior Design Engineer to lead mechanical design activities within its R&D team. Located in Espoo or Billnäs, Finland, the role is full-time and hybrid, reporting to the Senior Manager, R&D.

You will design and validate products with 3D CAD, prototypes, and test methods, collaborating with industrial designers, product managers, and marketing to deliver high-quality lifestyle products.

Qualifications

• MSc/BSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years in product development with a focus on mechanical design.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD/solid modelling (SolidWorks preferred) and MS Office.
• Ability to communicate designs via 2D/3D visualizations and prototypes.
• Strong ideation, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design products with conceptual design and 3D CAD, meeting project and cost constraints.
• Create documentation specifying performance requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Concept and prototype work; hands-on lab testing and validation.
• Translate field observations into sketches and concepts; analyze competitors.
• Support cost-reduction opportunities within supply chain and design refinements.
• Provide proof-of-concept and production prototypes for sales presentations.
