Job description

Would you like to work in a unique and highly specialized field of science and technology?

In this pivotal role, you will be a key contributor in designing stack modules. One of the most interesting aspects of the role is its versatility. You will be involved in the entire development process, from design and sourcing components for prototypes to assembling and testing products.

Your main responsibilities include solid oxide stack module product development, design, prototyping, and product management.

The full product development cycle is carried out in-house at our Vantaa site, giving you the opportunity to see your designs develop from concept to finished product.

If you have solid 3D design skills and enjoy combining engineering design with practical hands‑on work, this could be the role for you.

You will report to the R&D Manager, Module Development. The role is based in Vantaa, Finland, and offers a hybrid working model with the flexibility to work remotely up to 50% of the time.

  • Maintain and contribute to design data management activities.

  • Select, liaise with, and supervise subcontracting partners.

  • Participate in and coordinate customer projects and publicly funded projects.

  • Produce design documentation, drawings, assembly instructions, user manuals, test plans, and test reports.

  • Design and assemble modules and prototypes.

  • Work closely with cross‑functional teams (P&D, Industrialization, Manufacturing, and Customer Support) to align designs with requirements and deliverables.

  • Contribute to innovation and cost competitiveness in stack module design.

  • Support product and process improvements throughout the lifecycle of Elcogen stack modules.

Your profile

  • Experience with 3D design software and Product data management (PDM) systems.

  • Hands‑on experience in mechanical assembly and practical problem‑solving.

  • Readiness to perform testing and measurements, including electrical properties, temperature, fluid pressure, and flow rate.

  • Experience with high‑temperature (up to 800°C) metals, structures, sealing systems, material strength, and creep behaviour.

  • Fluent written and spoken English.

  • Ph.D. or M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • Strong analytical and mechanical design skills combined with a practical, hands‑on mindset.

  • A design‑for‑manufacturability mindset.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a collaborative environment.

  • High attention to detail, a quality‑driven approach, and a proactive attitude towards problem‑solving.
