Your role and the team

Join us as we strengthen our Construction team of nine professionals! The team is part of our Industry business unit, providing high-end engineering, design, and project execution services for our clients, as well as supporting project sales. The position can be based at our offices in Turku or Jyväskylä; please let us know your preferred location in your application.

As a Design Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring high-quality and efficient project execution within your area of expertise. You are responsible for:

• leading projects from planning through execution, ensuring that engineering and design activities progress according to agreed schedules and project milestones
• planning and coordinating project resourcing, monitoring resource utilization and workload, and ensuring the availability of the right competencies throughout the project lifecycle
• monitoring project financial performance, budget targets, and profitability, taking corrective actions when needed to ensure successful project outcomes

In addition, you will lead and support your team in a daily leadership role while working hands-on in projects, develop and maintain expertise within your discipline, participate in recruitment activities, and support subcontracting decisions from a technical perspective.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with sales by providing engineering and technology support, contributing to proposal preparation and cost calculations, supporting business development activities, and building strong client relationships.

What Helps You Succeed In This Role

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in a relevant field (preferably in civil engineering or similar)
• Strong experience in steel structure design, concrete structures, and cost estimation
• Relevant certifications, such as:
  • Designer of steel structures (demanding / very demanding)
  • Designer of concrete structures (demanding)
• Good knowledge of Finnish building regulations, construction legislation, and authority requirements, with the ability to apply them in structural design and project execution
• Ability to lead study and pre-engineering projects
• Strong project management skills, including resource management, problem-solving abilities, effective time and organizational skills, and the ability to perform well under pressure and changing priorities
• Motivation to lead, coach, and develop people and guide your team towards shared goals
• Fluent communication skills in Finnish and good proficiency in English; additional languages are considered an advantage
• Willingness to travel occasionally
