Job summary

u-blox seeks an experienced Senior Application Engineer to join a small, international team focused on delivering top-tier technical support for GNSS products. You will guide customers from design-in to maintenance, acting as a technical product expert and advocating for end users.

You will collaborate with Product Development, R&D, and Field Application Engineering across the globe, driving product improvements and ensuring seamless integration of positioning technologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience in embedded software and/or hardware design (digital and analog).
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to quickly understand customer system architectures and provide expert technical advice.
  • Strong communication skills, able to interface effectively with global teams and customers.
  • Self-driven and highly organized, with excellent time management, prioritization, and follow-up skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to support customer engagements and events.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in another European or APAC language is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage customer expectations and provide high-quality on-site and remote technical support for GNSS applications and projects.
  • Act as a technical expert, empowering customers through design-in guidance, technical documentation, and personalized support.
  • Author and contribute to technical product documentation, including datasheets, integration and user manuals, application notes and technical content for internal and external audiences.
  • Collect and process customer feedback, identify areas for improvement and communicate insights to internal stakeholders to drive product enhancements.
  • Collaborate proactively with Product Management, Product Development and R&D during product definition, development, and improvement processes.
  • Provide customized design-in vehicles, prototype deliveries and tailored technical solutions to accelerate customer adoption of new technologies.
  • Analyze non-conformities, support root-cause investigations and contribute to corrective actions with the R&D teams.
  • Host technical trainings and workshops for Field Application Engineers and customers worldwide.
  • Provide support from customer design-in through maintenance phases, ensuring seamless integration and maximum product value.

Job description

As a Senior Application Engineer, you will be part of a small, international team within the Application Engineering value unit, delivering exceptional technical support services and helping customers around the world successfully integrate u-blox GNSS products into their applications.

In this role, you will act as a technical product expert, dedicated to ensuring customers have the product knowledge, design-in guidance, and support they need to succeed. You will serve as an advocate for end users within the organization by gathering and communicating technical feedback to highlight issues, identify areas for improvement and contribute to evolving product requirements.

You will work closely with multiple teams - including Product Development and R&D value teams, Product Management as well as Field Application Engineering, Sales and Quality - to support customer projects globally, clear roadblocks toward product commercialization and ensure seamless and satisfactory user experience across a variety of engagements.

To be successful in this role, you are an experienced engineer who combines extensive practical experience with a solid theoretical understanding. You are equally comfortable providing technical leadership and working hands-on. Experience in the GNSS technology and/or automotive market and applications are highly valued.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications ("Bonus Points")

  • Experience with Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) such as GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, or Galileo.
  • Understanding of high-precision GNSS technologies (RTK, VRS, OSR, SSR), Sensor Fusion technology
  • Experience working with the automotive market and related applications (e.g., ADAS, autonomous driving, telematics, infotainment systems).
  • Skills in embedded software debugging and experience with development platforms (e.g., emulators, debuggers).
  • Programming proficiency in C, C++, C#, Perl, or Python.
  • Background in hardware design (analog, RF, digital).
