Job summary

u-blox in Tampere, Finland, seeks a GNSS Testing Lab Technician to keep our GNSS test infrastructure stable and efficient. You will set up test environments, debug complex issues, and perform hands-on hardware work to enable high-quality testing and rapid development cycles.

The role involves occasional travel to Espoo for lab infrastructure maintenance, and requires comfort with soldering, lab equipment, and collaboration with engineers in a multidisciplinary, international setting.

Qualifications

  • Technical education in electronics, telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Experience in a laboratory, test, or R&D environment with responsibility for equipment and infrastructure.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for test environments.
  • Comfortable with soldering and handling lab hardware.
  • Good documentation practices and English communication.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the stability, availability, and improvement of GNSS test infrastructure in Tampere and support Espoo lab maintenance.
  • Build, configure, and validate new test setups and lab environments for GNSS testing.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues affecting test setups and equipment.
  • Carry out hands-on assembly, rework, and soldering for prototypes and hardware modifications.
  • Work with engineers on root-cause analysis and lab support.
  • Maintain clear documentation of lab setups, changes, and troubleshooting outcomes.

As a GNSS Testing Lab Technician, you will play a key role in keeping our lab infrastructure in Finland stable, efficient, and ready to support cutting‑edge positioning technologies. From setting up new test setups to debugging complex issues and carrying out hands‑on hardware work, your contribution will directly enable high-quality testing and faster development cycles. The role is based in Tampere, Finland, and includes occasional travel to Espoo to support the maintenance of the lab infrastructure there.

Your Responsibilities
  • Ensure the stability, availability, and continuous improvement of GNSS test infrastructure and test setups in Tampere, while also supporting the maintenance of the lab environment in Espoo
  • Build, configure, and validate new test setup, fixtures, and supporting lab environments for GNSS testing activities
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues affecting test setups, equipment, and infrastructure to maintain reliable test execution
  • Carry out hands‑on assembly, rework, and soldering to support prototypes, test setups, and hardware modifications
  • Work closely with engineers and cross‑functional teams on root‑cause analysis, lab support, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain clear documentation of lab setups, changes, troubleshooting outcomes, and best practices to support efficient and repeatable testing
Your Skills and Experience
  • A technical education in electronics, telecommunications, or a related field, or equivalent hands‑on experience
  • Experience in a laboratory, test, or other technical R&D environment, with responsibility for equipment, setups, or infrastructure
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues in test environments
  • Comfortable with soldering and capable of working confidently with electronics, test boards, cables, and related lab hardware
  • A structured and reliable working style, with attention to detail and good documentation practices
  • Good communication skills in English and the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Familiarity with electronic measurement equipment and common lab instrumentation (Multimeter, Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer, VNA, ...)
Bonus Points (Not Mandatory)
  • Experience with GNSS technologies, test methods, or positioning-related products
  • Basic programming or scripting skills (e.g. C, C++, Python, Perl, JS) to support test automation, troubleshooting, or lab tools
  • RF experience will be considered as a plus
