Job summary

u-blox in Espoo, Finland, seeks a Senior Application Engineer to join the international Application Engineering team. You will act as a technical product expert, delivering design‑in guidance, support, and documentation to global customers and internal stakeholders.

You will collaborate with Product Development, R&D, Product Management, Field Application Engineers, Sales and Quality teams, travel as needed, and help customers maximize GNSS product performance while contributing to evolving

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Engineering, CS, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Customer-focused mindset with ability to understand customer architectures and provide expert support.
  • Experience reproducing and analyzing customer issues with support tools and lab equipment.
  • Fluent in English; willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Manage customer expectations and provide high-quality on-site and remote technical support for GNSS applications and projects
  • Author and contribute to technical product documentation, including datasheets, integration and user manuals, application notes and technical content for internal and external audiences.
  • Provide customized design‑in vehicles, prototype deliveries and tailored technical solutions to accelerate customer adoption of new technologies.
  • Analyze non-conformities, support root-cause investigations and contribute to corrective actions with the R&D and Quality teams.
  • Collect and process customer feedback, identify areas for improvement and communicate insights to internal stakeholders to drive product enhancements.
  • Provide support from customer design‑in through maintenance phases, ensuring seamless integration and maximum product value.
  • Host technical trainings and workshops for Field Application Engineers and customers worldwide.

Job description

As a Senior Application Engineer, you will work in a dynamic and international team within the Application Engineering department, providing technical support to global customers and coordinating activities with Product Development, R&D, Product Management, Field Application Engineers, Sales, and Quality teams. In this role, you act as a technical product expert, ensuring customers receive the product knowledge, design‑in guidance, and support they need to succeed. You also serve as the voice of the customer by gathering and communicating technical feedback to highlight issues, identify improvements, and contribute to evolving product requirements.

Success in this position requires understanding of both software (reference code, embedded software, support tools and libraries) and hardware design concepts (digital and analog). Experience with GNSS technology in INR (Industrial Navigation and Robotic) market and related applications is highly valued.

Your Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to quickly understand customer system architectures and provide expert technical support for their application.
  • Ability to replicate and analyze customer related issues using support tools and laboratory equipment.
  • Data analysis, issue investigation, triage and follow‑up, full end‑to‑end resolution management with internal teams and customers, including implementation of bug fixes and work‑arounds.
  • Hands on experience with validation tools, development hardware, and test equipment.
  • Self-driven and highly organized, with excellent time management, prioritization, and follow‑up skills.
  • Excellent communication skills to interface with internal subsidiaries and customers around the world
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to support customer engagements and events.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in another European or APAC language is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications ("Bonus Points")
  • Experience working with the INR (Industrial Navigation and Robotic) market and related applications (e.g., mowers, agricultural, constructions, avionics)
  • Experience in Global Positioning Systems (GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo)
  • Experience or good understanding of High Precision Technologies, RTK/PPP/PPP-RTK
  • Experience or good understanding of security standards, cybersecurity principles, and RF‑based malicious attack vectors
  • Scripting ability (Python, Matlab, Perl)
  • Experience in embedded SW debugging and embedded development platforms (emulators/debuggers)
