Job description

Join a team shaping one of the world's most widely used technologies. GNSS powers billions of devices every day and continues to evolve through breakthroughs in accuracy, robustness, and efficiency. At u-blox, our team develops the GNSS positioning engine software that powers products used around the world. By combining embedded software development and GNSS algorithm engineering, this role offers a unique opportunity to take ideas and innovations from concept all the way to production. Working in a fast-paced, international environment, you will collaborate across agile teams, learn from some of the industry's most experienced engineers, and contribute to a culture built on teamwork, open communication, accountability, and shared success.

You are a collaborative engineer who enjoys solving complex problems as part of a team. You build strong relationships across functions, contribute openly to technical discussions, and communicate effectively with peers, experts, and stakeholders. Equally comfortable with innovation and product delivery, you turn new ideas into production-ready solutions while continuously improving existing technology. You enjoy working across a broad GNSS technology landscape and can quickly identify what matters most. You take ownership of your work and contribute to your team's success. With a strong drive to achieve results and continuously raise the bar, you help strengthen u-blox's leadership in positioning technology.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and validate GNSS features in embedded receiver firmware using C.
  • Contribute across the full development lifecycle, from requirements and feature definition to implementation, testing, and release.
  • Analyze GNSS performance and measurement data to evaluate and optimize new features.
  • Develop and maintain automated test solutions to ensure product quality and efficient verification.
  • Collaborate on work planning, technical discussions, and feature prioritization.
  • Review code and contribute to high standards of software quality, maintainability, and robustness.
  • Investigate software defects and customer-reported issues, developing fixes and workarounds where needed.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for functional blocks, features, and development activities.
Your Skills and Experience:
  • Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Geodesy, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience with exposure to GNSS, positioning, navigation, sensor fusion, or related localization technologies.
  • Solid understanding of estimation theory, statistical methods, and positioning algorithms.
  • Knowledge of RTK, PPP, carrier-phase processing, and ambiguity resolution.
  • Proficiency in C, preferably for embedded systems, and experience with C++, Python, and MATLAB or Octave.
  • Experience developing embedded software or firmware for resource-constrained systems.
  • Experience with Linux-based development environments (including WSL), version control systems, and modern software development tools.
  • Familiarity with agile software development practices, including code reviews, continuous integration, test automation, and unit testing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including software debugging, data analysis, and validation in simulated and real-world environments (e.g., SIL/HIL testing).
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills. Fluent in English.
