Job summary

ABB Oy, Energy Industries in Vaasa, is seeking a Project Manager - Upgrade Projects to lead automation upgrade initiatives across the Engine Power segment. You will own the full project lifecycle, manage budgets, resources and risks, and act as the technical lead from initiation to implementation.

Hybrid work model, limited travel (0-10 days per year). Strong collaboration with customers and internal teams, with focus on HSE and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in automation engineering or related field.
• Several years of experience in technical project execution, ideally in the Energy sector.
• Readiness to take the next career step into project management.
• Solid technical understanding including PLC and HMI.
• Result oriented mindset with the ability to manage project scope, cost, and schedules.
• Collaborative, solution-focused approach and ability to lead yourself.
• Strong English and Swedish or Finnish skills, both written and spoken.

Your Role and Responsibilities

We are looking for a new Project Manager - Upgrade Projects, to join our team at ABB Oy, Energy Industries in Vaasa. In this role, you will be accountable for and lead the execution of automation upgrade projects within our Engine Power business segment.

You will oversee the full project lifecycle, from initiation through implementation. As a Project Manager, you monitor and control project progress, ensure efficient use of resources, and serve as the technical lead for your projects. You are accountable for project financials and ensure timely and accurate execution of commercial aspects of contracts. You communicate the project goals and plans internally and externally and act as the project key contact for the customer. You'll be working as a part of the Project Management Office team (PMO) together with supportive teammates and colleagues.

The role includes limited travel, 0-10 days annually. The role location is Vaasa, Finland.

Reporting to the Manager of the Project Management Office, you will maintain and enhance customer satisfaction by ensuring that customer requirements and all targets are met, providing excellent customer service at every stage of the project

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Leading the project team by allocating project tasks, motivating and monitoring internal and external resources to accomplish project tasks and milestones
• Defining and maintaining project plan documents, including scope, financial plans, and time schedules
• Monitoring projects to ensure best practices in cost control, resource efficiency and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
• Analyzing and addressing project risks and opportunities, and regularly communicating lessons learned
• Collaborating with other functions to reach project and business goals, while building strong relationships with customers and stakeholders

• Several years of experience in working with technical project execution, ideally within the Energy sector
