Job summary

DayOne is seeking a Project Director to lead end-to-end delivery of designated data centre developments in Finland, ensuring safe, on-time, and on-budget outcomes. You will work as a strategic partner to senior leadership and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, clients, designers, and contractors.

This role requires an engineering- or architecture-based background, strong leadership, and excellent stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
• Extensive background in large-scale construction or mission-critical infrastructure projects with strong knowledge of Finnish building codes and involvement in design management in technically demanding projects
• Demonstrated experience in leading technical and project teams
• Proficiency in English.
• Finnish language is considered an asset.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with high integrity and a collaborative working style.
• Ability and willingness to travel in Finland and internationally

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of designated DayOne data centre developments in Finland, ensuring projects are executed safely, on time, within budget, and to high technical and quality standards.
• Provide strategic direction for project and construction management activities, governance frameworks, metrics, and reporting.
• Oversee lifecycle from concept through commissioning and handover, including permitting and compliance milestones.
• Drive design optimisation, contractor QA/QC, and vendor management to ensure project success.

What you’ll do

• As a Project Director you will be leading the end-to-end delivery of designated DayOne’s data centre developments in Finland, ensuring projects are executed from a holistic perspective safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest technical and quality standards. This role oversees the full lifecycle from concept through commissioning, acting as a strategic partner to senior leadership and a trusted leader for multidisciplinary project teams, end clients, designers, consultants, contractors, and other external stakeholders.
  • Strategic Leadership & Governance
    • Providing strategic direction for all project and construction management activities.
    • Establishing governance frameworks, performance metrics, and reporting mechanisms.
    • Leading risk identification, mitigation planning, and escalation management.
  • Project Delivery & Execution
    • Defining project scope, schedules, estimates, procurement strategies, and resource plans.
    • Overseeing execution from schematic design to commissioning and handover.
    • Ensuring permitting, licencing, and compliance milestones are secured.
    • Driving improvements in project controls, reporting, and workflows.
  • Technical Excellence
    • Overseeing development of system-level architecture and performance requirements.
    • Driving design optimisation for efficiency and lifecycle cost improvements.
    • Ensuring contractor quality assurance and adherence to technical specifications.
  • Contractor & Vendor Management
    • Organizing and aligning the project model, and according to it establishing the PMC consultant’s role to supervise site implementation across designers and contractors.
    • Leading evaluation and selection of contractors, consultants, and suppliers.
    • Building strong relationships with utilities, authorities, and engineering partners.
    • Overseeing contractor safety programs and QA/QC frameworks.
