Job summary

DayOne in Helsinki is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive large-scale data center developments from site origination through delivery across Finland and future European markets.

You will collaborate with Development, Engineering, Finance, Legal and Operations to ensure projects progress on time, manage external stakeholders, and align with business objectives. This role requires travel within Finland and across Europe.

Qualifications

• Experience leading large-scale data center development projects.
• Strong knowledge of land development, zoning and permitting.
• Familiarity with electrical infrastructure and utilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate development activities for data center projects across land, power, utilities, connectivity and permitting.
• Support early-stage planning with resource readiness aligned to timelines and investments.
• Maintain knowledge of current and pipeline projects, milestones, and expansion plans.
• Engage with municipalities, utilities, grid operators, landowners and regulators.
• Collaborate with internal teams across Development, Engineering, Finance, Legal and Operations to drive execution.

What You’ll Do

As a Business Development Manager, you will have a crucial role in advancing large-scale data center developments from site origination through development and into delivery in Finland and future European markets. You will coordinate critical workstreams covering land, power, utilities, connectivity, permitting and stakeholder engagement, ensuring project progress efficiently and remaining aligned with business objectives.

• Resource & Project Enablement
• Coordinate development activities for data center projects, covering land, power, utilities, connectivity, and permitting
• Support early-stage project planning by ensuring resource readiness aligns with development timelines, investment decisions, and business objectives
• Maintain a strong understanding of current and pipeline projects, key development milestones, and long-term expansion plans, proactively identifying risks and dependencies
• Stakeholder Engagement
• Manage relationships with external stakeholders such as municipalities, utilities, grid operators, landowners, and regulatory authorities
• Support discussions and alignment with power and infrastructure providers to ensure timely availability of required capacities and services
• Coordinate permitting and licensing activities, including zoning, environmental approvals, and permits related to electrical and utility infrastructure
• Cross‑Functional Collaboration
• Work closely with internal teams across Development, Engineering, Finance, Legal and Operations to help drive the successful execution of DayOne’s development pipeline
• Coordinate technical inputs from subject‑matter experts and translate them into clear, decision‑ready information

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in project development within data centers, construction, real estate development, or large‑scale infrastructure projects (e.g. energy, utilities, telecommunications, industrial developments) with multiple concurrent projects or workstreams
• Solid understanding of land development, zoning, and permitting processes
• Working knowledge of electricity and electrical infrastructure, sufficient to engage with utilities, grid operators, and technical teams
• Experience coordinating resource readiness and knowledge in at least one relevant area including land, power, utilities, connectivity, or related infrastructure.
• Proactive and self‑directed working style
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with experience in engaging with multiple internal and external stakeholders
• Proficiency in English and Finnish.
• Willingness to travel within Finland and across Europe as required
