Job summary

Kalmar, a global leader in sustainable material handling, seeks a Master Data Lead to secure quality data across systems and drive cross-functional development projects. The preferred location is Tampere, Finland.

You will define analytical capabilities, partner with stakeholders, and ensure reliable data to back Kalmar’s service operations globally. This is a full-time role requiring collaboration across IT, digital, and business functions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in IS/CS/related fields.
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial spare parts, heavy machinery, or service businesses.
  • Experience applying AI/ML or analytics to master data and item management is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Drive internal master data development needs.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specs within the master data scope.
  • Ensure accurate data flow between core systems (PDM, ERP), cloud platforms, and analytics dashboards.
  • Collaborate across IT, digital and business functions to drive improvements.
  • Monitor data quality KPIs and drive corrective actions.
  • Translate data analytics into practical business value for stakeholders.
  • Ensure data integrity of Capture Rate and Spare Parts data.
  • Follow master data policies in new developments and initiatives.
  • Provide hands-on daily master data support alongside projects.

The global Master Data Management team at Kalmar Services is seeking a Master Data Lead. In this role, you will secure the quality of Item and Installed Base data across the organization by taking hands‑on corrective actions and driving cross-functional development projects.

You will play a key role in defining analytical capabilities that support both our internal data team and wider business functions. By partnering with stakeholders to continuously improve our master data systems and processes, you will make sure that Kalmar’s global service operations are backed by reliable, actionable data.

This is a full-time position. The preferred location is Tampere, Finland.

What Are Your Key Responsibilities
  • Development needs: Identify and drive internal master data development needs.
  • Business requirements: Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications, solutions, or processes within the master data management scope.
  • Data flow: Ensure the accurate and consistent flow of master data between core systems, including PDM and ERP, cloud platforms, and analytics dashboards to enable practical, data-driven business insights.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders across IT, digital, and business functions to drive continuous improvement and align development initiatives with broader organizational needs.
  • Data quality: Monitor data quality KPIs, proactively identify issues, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Analytics and business value: Define and translate data analytics into practical business value, acting as a communication bridge between technical development and business stakeholders.
  • Data integrity: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of master data related to Capture Rate and Spare Parts potential.
  • Policy compliance: Ensure Kalmar’s master data policies are followed in new developments and initiatives.
  • Team and operational support: Contribute to a proactive, collaborative, and hands‑on team culture while handling daily operational master data support tickets alongside project work.

What You Bring To The Role
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Knowledge Management, Computer Science, Business Administration, or Machine Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • Relevant experience: At least 3 years of relevant experience in industrial spare parts, heavy machinery, or service businesses, including project management and process development.
  • AI/ML and analytics: Experience applying AI/ML or advanced analytics to master data and item management use cases; practical experience with AI/ML tools is an advantage.
  • Master data expertise: Strong understanding of master data, system landscapes, and their wider business impact, with the analytical ability to turn complex data into actionable insights.
  • Global collaboration: Ability to work effectively in multinational and matrix organizations, build strong cross‑functional stakeholder relationships, and collaborate across departments.
  • Technical capability: Advanced Excel skills and the ability to quickly master new systems; familiarity with SQL, BigQuery, Athena, GCP, or AWS is an advantage.
  • Systems expertise: Deep familiarity with data management systems and ERP platforms, preferably SAP.
  • Work style: A self‑driven, independent working style and willingness to provide hands‑on support with daily operational tasks.
  • Communication: Professional fluency in spoken and written English.
