The role includes supporting sales opportunities and contributing to digital transformation journeys in a hybrid Helsinki-based setting.

You’ll also champion the adoption of AI-augmented development practices, ensuring our teams leverage modern AI tools to enhance productivity and code quality. You’ll work closely with clients and internal stakeholders to align solutions with their needs, provide clarity in complex situations, and represent the technical side of the project with confidence and integrity.

About The Role

As a Lead developer you’ll guide the development team, ensure architectural consistency, and facilitate informed tech choices while keeping the bigger picture in view. You’ll also champion the adoption of AI-augmented development practices, ensuring our teams leverage modern AI tools to enhance productivity and code quality. You’ll work closely with clients and internal stakeholders to align solutions with their needs, provide clarity in complex situations, and represent the technical side of the project with confidence and integrity. Your work will span mentoring and empowering your team, ensuring security and compliance standards are met, supporting sales opportunities, and helping our clients thrive in their digital transformation journey. This includes advising clients on how to integrate AI and data-driven solutions into their technical workflows and roadmaps. We work in five different service lines in Nordic level, and you can read here some more about our other Service Lines. We offer a hybrid work model, though proximity to our Helsinki office is required for regular in-person collaboration. Please note, we are currently unable to provide relocation support.

Key Responsibilities

In Your Role, You

• Act as the responsible technical contact person within the project scope — both internally and externally.
• Provide opinionated technical leadership tailored to the project and client context.
• Facilitate technology choices, architecture decisions, and ways of working that align with project goals and organizational standards.
• Ensure that security and compliance requirements are understood and fulfilled throughout the development lifecycle, both in the ways of working with AI tools and the actual solutions the team builds.
• Oversee and contribute to the creation of documentation to support onboarding, operations, and continuity (including updating relevant entries in Power).
• Identify and flag new sales opportunities and proactively communicate them to the Sales team.
• Provide technical support in sales cases, especially within your client relationships or specific industry domain.
• Strive to overcome technical and organizational challenges with creativity and resilience.
• Ensure the project team has the capabilities needed to succeed, and knows how to leverage Futurice’s internal resources and external partner networks effectively.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, learning, and openness.

Skills And Requirements

As a Lead Developer we don't expect one person to be a master of everything, but we hope you bring a combination of the following traits and experiences:

• Lead developer experience in software development with a full-stack mindset and a deep technical understanding.
• Proficiency in using agentic AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) across the entire lifecycle—from planning and implementation to testing and debugging.
• The ability to coach our teams on Agentic AI, sharing your expertise to help everyone pivot to AI-augmented workflows in their daily work.
• A proven track record of mentoring developers, taking charge of technical architecture and helping the team grow their professional skills.
• The confidence to act as the go-to expert for clients, explaining technical trade-offs and designing innovative AI-related solutions.
• Experience managing cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and handling DevOps, CI/CD, and AI infrastructure needs.
• A commitment to strong security practices, ensuring data privacy, compliance, and the ethical use of AI in all projects.
• Ability to guide teams with a pragmatic approach, staying curious and opinionated while keeping everyone aligned.
• A consultative mindset focused on solving real-world challenges and using tech to deliver value to our clients.
• Professional working proficiency in both Finnish and English.

Compensation

Your complete compensation package will be discussed in detail during the recruitment process. Our salary model is designed to offer a range of levels based on three factors: skills, responsibilities and impact. During the initial interview round, we will discuss the salary range for this position. We offer a fixed salary with the possibility of performance-based bonuses and additional benefits. For this Lead Developer role in the Customer Experience solution services team, the on-target compensation varies between 5567-6968€ on a monthly basis depending on the career level.
