Job summary

Trane Technologies in Markham is seeking a Controls Estimator II to prepare cost estimates for HVAC controls projects and support bid preparation. You will work with building owners and Account Managers to define scope and price materials, equipment, and services.

The role requires a degree in engineering or related field and relevant experience in estimating or controls. Strong knowledge of Building Automation and HVAC systems, bilingual English/French, and a valid driver’s license are

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years estimating/engineering experience; or 5–7 years controls field experience.
• Proven experience with Building Automation and HVAC controls.
• Fluent English and French; valid driver’s license; flexibility for overtime.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates including materials, subs, equipment, labor and related activities.
• Develop detailed scope from design-build plans for bidding.
• Create detailed cost estimates with sketches, scope, and vendor quotes.
• Price purchased equipment ensuring quantity and configuration accuracy.
• Lead pre-bid meetings with Account Managers to review scope and strategy.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and manage cost variations with vendors.
• Assist with determining need for outsourced engineering and collaborate to control costs.
