Job summary

atNorth is seeking an HSE Specialist to lead safety and environmental practices on our Finland-based construction sites. You will implement the HSE framework, ensure compliance with ISO standards, and work with contractors to embed robust safety culture.

You will monitor risk controls, conduct incident investigations, and support audits, trainings, and emergency drills to protect personnel and the environment across multiple Nordic sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Studies, Engineering, or similar, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on HSE experience, ideally from construction, industrial, or data center environments.
• Solid understanding of HSE risk management, audits, and operational safety practices.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate documentation and reports.
• Confident communicator, able to engage with employees, contractors, and site management.
• Proactive, collaborative, and comfortable working across multiple sites and stakeholders.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Finnish is an advantage.
• HSE-related certifications (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH, national OHS card) and First Aid certification are considered a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support implementation and maintenance of atNorth's Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Framework and Integrated Management System (IMS)
• Help embed strong occupational health, safety and environmental practices related to the construction activities
• Assist with contractor prequalification, inductions, and monitoring of permit-to-work and safe systems of work
• Ensure compliance with applicable HSE legislation, permits, company standards, client requirements, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001
• Verify Risk Assessment and Method Statements, and ensure adequate management of change activities
• Monitor daily site activities to verify implementation of risk controls and promote safe behaviours
• Support incident reporting and investigations, ensuring lessons learned are shared and actions are effective
• Contribute to emergency preparedness activities, including drills and equipment checks
• Support HSE inductions, toolbox talks, briefings, and awareness initiatives for employees and contractors
• Maintain accurate HSE records, documentation, and objective evidence.
• Participate in internal and external audits and support closure of corrective and preventive actions
• Capture and report HSE performance data to support continuous improvement
