Job summary

Vaisala, a global leader in measurement instruments, is seeking an HR Trainee for its Vantaa headquarters. This 12-month fixed-term role offers exposure to Total Rewards, Global Mobility, and Talent Management, with a focus on data analysis and HR processes in an international setting.

You will learn through hands-on work in compensation, benchmarking, and employer branding, collaborating with HR and Communications teams, and reporting to the Director, Total Rewards & Global Mobility.

Qualifications

• Current university student or recent graduate in HR, business, or related field.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills, detail oriented, comfortable with Excel.
• Experience with statistical tools (SPSS or R) is an advantage.

HR Trainee

Location: Helsinki, FI

We are looking for an HR Trainee to join our HR team at Vaisala’s headquarters in Vantaa, Finland. Are you a student eager to gain hands-on experience in compensation and benefits, talent management, and employer branding?

This is a 12-month fixed-term position, starting as soon as a suitable candidate is found.

What’s your role?

You will work closely with the Total Rewards and Global Mobility, and Talent Management team, a group of passionate professionals. Together with the team, you will have an excellent opportunity to contribute to compensation and talent management activities, gaining practical experience in HR in a global company. You will be working closely with colleagues in HR and Communications, and report to the Director, Total Rewards & Global Mobility.

In this role, you will:

• Support the annual salary review, incentive planning, and the implementation of EU Pay Transparency requirements through data preparation, analysis, budgeting, communication, and identifying opportunities for process improvement
• Assist with salary benchmarking and salary range development using external market data, and contribute to job grading evaluations and architecture discussions
• Develop compensation materials such as manager guidance and training content
• Plan and coordinate student and employer branding activities, including collaboration with student guilds, organizing different talent group visits, and other student-facing opportunities that highlight Vaisala as an inspiring workplace
• Take an active role in developing and coordinating the Giant Leap internship program, including planning events, workshops, and community activities for interns
• Depending on your interests, contribute to recruitment and onboarding activities and learning and development initiatives, gaining first‑hand experience of talent management in practice

What will you bring?

• You are a current university student or have recently completed studies in a relevant field, such as HR or business
• Strong analytical and numerical skills, attention to detail, and comfortable working with Excel
• Good skills in statistical tools and methods (for example SPSS or R) are considered an advantage
• Excellent organizational and collaboration skills, ideally with event coordination or student organization experience. You enjoy bringing people together through well‑planned activities and events
• Proactiveness and ability to take initiative while working as part of a supportive team
• Curiosity and growth mindset to explore, learn, and apply AI tools in your daily work. We expect everyone at Vaisala to actively discover how AI can enhance their work
• Fluency in English
