Job summary

Vaisala seeks an HR Trainee to join our Helsinki area team, based at our headquarters in Vantaa, Finland. You will gain hands-on experience across compensation and benefits, talent management, and employer branding, while supporting Total Rewards and Global Mobility activities.

You will learn through data analysis, salary benchmarking, and collaboration with HR and Communications, reporting to the Director, Total Rewards & Global Mobility.

Qualifications

• You are a current university student or have recently completed studies in HR or business.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
• Experience with Excel; knowledge of SPSS or R is advantageous.
• Excellent organizational and collaboration skills; event coordination is a plus.
• Curiosity and growth mindset; willingness to explore AI tools.

Responsibilities

• Support the annual salary review, incentive planning, and EU pay transparency data preparation and budgeting.
• Assist with salary benchmarking and salary range development using external market data.
• Develop compensation materials such as manager guidance and training content.
• Plan and coordinate student and employer branding activities.
• Coordinate the Giant Leap internship program events and activities for interns.
• Contribute to recruitment and onboarding and learning and development initiatives.

HR Trainee

Location: Helsinki, FI

We are looking for an HR Trainee to join our HR team at Vaisala’s headquarters in Vantaa, Finland. Are you a student eager to gain hands-on experience in compensation and benefits, talent management, and employer branding?

This is a 12-month fixed-term position, starting as soon as a suitable candidate is found.

What’s your role?

You will work closely with the Total Rewards and Global Mobility, and Talent Management team, a group of passionate professionals. Together with the team, you will have an excellent opportunity to contribute to compensation and talent management activities, gaining practical experience in HR in a global company. You will be working closely with colleagues in HR and Communications, and report to the Director, Total Rewards & Global Mobility.

In this role, you will:

• Support the annual salary review, incentive planning, and the implementation of EU Pay Transparency requirements through data preparation, analysis, budgeting, communication, and identifying opportunities for process improvement
• Assist with salary benchmarking and salary range development using external market data, and contribute to job grading evaluations and architecture discussions
• Develop compensation materials such as manager guidance and training content
• Plan and coordinate student and employer branding activities, including collaboration with student guilds, organizing different talent group visits, and other student-facing opportunities that highlight Vaisala as an inspiring workplace
• Take an active role in developing and coordinating the Giant Leap internship program, including planning events, workshops, and community activities for interns
• Depending on your interests, contribute to recruitment and onboarding activities and learning and development initiatives, gaining first‑hand experience of talent management in practice

What will you bring?

• You are a current university student or have recently completed studies in a relevant field, such as HR or business
• Strong analytical and numerical skills, attention to detail, and comfortable working with Excel
• Good skills in statistical tools and methods (for example SPSS or R) are considered an advantage
• Excellent organizational and collaboration skills, ideally with event coordination or student organization experience. You enjoy bringing people together through well‑planned activities and events
• Proactiveness and ability to take initiative while working as part of a supportive team
• Curiosity and growth mindset to explore, learn, and apply AI tools in your daily work. We expect everyone at Vaisala to actively discover how AI can enhance their work
