Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a FinOps Lead Technology & Product based in Finland.

As a FinOps Lead, you will connect cloud infrastructure costs, product economics, and business growth to support smarter financial and operational decisions. Acting as a strategic Finance Business Partner to Technology and Product leadership, you will make cloud spending transparent, measurable, and manageable. You will work closely with Finance, Engineering, Product, Data, and HR to optimize infrastructure costs and improve resource allocation. By translating technical usage and architectural decisions into financial insights, you will help teams understand profitability, gross margins, and unit economics. You will also evaluate the financial impact of new products and features, supporting sustainable scaling and informed investment decisions. This role offers the opportunity to combine technical expertise, financial modeling, and strategic collaboration in a fast-growing technology environment.

Accountabilities:
  • Cloud infrastructure cost management: Develop and maintain cloud cost allocation strategies, tagging frameworks, and dashboards that provide clear visibility into spending across teams, products, and features.
  • Cost optimization and governance: Identify optimization opportunities through resource rightsizing, cloud commitment management, waste reduction, and anomaly detection. Establish alerts, regular cost reviews, and continuous improvement processes with Technology and Product teams.
  • Financial performance and unit economics: Connect infrastructure spending to revenue and cost of revenue in collaboration with Data and Finance teams, providing reliable insights into gross margin, profitability, and unit economics.
  • Infrastructure forecasting: Own rolling cloud infrastructure cost forecasts, incorporating customer growth, product usage, adoption trends, and architectural changes to anticipate future spending.
  • Product economics and cost modeling: Partner with Product and Engineering teams early in the development cycle to assess the financial impact of new products, features, and architectures.
  • Scalability analysis: Model how infrastructure costs evolve as usage increases, evaluating different growth scenarios and identifying the economic drivers that influence product scalability.
  • Business case development: Build pre-launch cost models, calculate unit and scaling costs, compare forecasts with actual production data, and contribute to pricing scenarios and product profitability assessments.
  • Technology and Product resource allocation: Provide leadership with a reliable overview of resource allocation across major initiatives, including team capacity, fully loaded costs, and changes over time, supporting prioritization and R&D investment decisions.
  • R&D funding and compliance: Maintain accurate time-tracking processes and audit trails for eligible research and development projects supported by tax credits or grants, ensuring reliable documentation for reporting and justification.
  • Workforce cost planning: Collaborate with HR and Finance to model the financial impact of Technology and Product hiring plans, including future payroll expenses and recruitment costs.
  • Budgeting and scenario planning: Calculate the fully loaded cost of new hires and assess their impact on the profit and loss statement to support annual budgeting and financial planning.
Requirements:
  • Hands-on experience understanding, monitoring, and optimizing infrastructure spending across public cloud platforms or large-scale hosted environments, such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or OVH.
  • Strong knowledge of FinOps principles and practices, including cloud cost allocation, tagging strategies, resource optimization, commitment management, unit economics, and gross margin analysis.
  • Technical credibility and the ability to engage confidently with Engineering teams on infrastructure architecture, resource consumption, and cost-performance trade-offs.
  • Experience working with cloud billing data, cost-management platforms, and analytical tools to identify spending patterns, investigate anomalies, and drive measurable optimization initiatives.
  • Strong data analysis and financial modeling skills, with proficiency in SQL and/or relevant cloud cost-management tools.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into clear financial insights, forecasts, and actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across Finance, Product, Engineering, Data, and HR.
  • Professional fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • A structured, analytical, and proactive approach to problem‑solving, with the ability to work autonomously and balance immediate cost‑saving opportunities with long‑term business objectives.

Nice-to-have qualifications:

  • A FinOps certification, such as a qualification from the FinOps Foundation, or equivalent professional training.
  • Knowledge of financial planning, management control, budgeting, and financial reporting, or a strong willingness to develop these skills with support from Finance leadership.
  • Experience in a B2B SaaS, software, or high‑growth technology company.
  • Understanding of the importance of gross margin, infrastructure efficiency, and unit economics in a fundraising and business‑growth context.
  • Experience with R&D tax credits, innovation grants, or financial reporting requirements for subsidized research and development projects.
  • Familiarity with workforce planning, fully loaded personnel costs, and resource allocation models.

Candidates who do not meet every listed requirement are still encouraged to apply if they can demonstrate relevant technical expertise, strong analytical capabilities, and a willingness to grow into the broader financial responsibilities of the role.

Benefits:
  • Full-time-equivalent professional engagement under a contract arrangement, with the precise contractual terms to be confirmed during recruitment.
  • Flexible work arrangements, with remote work available and potential opportunities to work from designated office locations, subject to the agreed working arrangements.
  • Opportunity to work at the intersection of Finance, Cloud Infrastructure, Engineering, and Product strategy.
  • Direct collaboration with senior Finance and Technology leadership, contributing to strategic decisions and business performance.
  • Meaningful ownership of cloud cost optimization, infrastructure forecasting, and product profitability initiatives.
  • Exposure to cloud economics, financial modeling, resource planning, and scalable technology operations.
  • Opportunities to develop expertise in FinOps practices, unit economics, gross margin management, and financial strategy.
  • A collaborative and evolving technology environment that values analytical thinking, technical understanding, and continuous improvement.
  • Salary, healthcare coverage, paid leave, equipment allowances, and other benefits to be confirmed with the hiring company.
