Job summary

Academic Work, as a Wärtsilä consultant, seeks an ERP Service Manager to own the day-to-day operations of minor enhancements after a major ERP transformation. You will coordinate between internal business workgroups and the external development partner, ensuring monthly planning, 1-month sprints, and SAP release dates stay on track.

The role focuses on operational delivery, overseeing ServiceNow requests, sprint cadences, and KPI tracking while maintaining a strong partnership with offshore

Qualifications

• Strong track record in a Service Manager, Delivery Manager, or similar operational lead role within IT or ERP environments.
• Hands-on experience with agile delivery methodologies, sprint management, and release cadences.

About the role

In this role, you will take ownership of the day-to-day operational cadence of Wärtsiläs ERP Application Development (Minor Enhancements). Following a major ERP transformation, our development machinery is accelerating, and we need a hands-on ERP Service Manager to act as the key operational glue between internal business workgroups and our external development partner.

You will manage the daily operations of enhancement requests, keeping monthly planning cycles, 1-month sprints, and SAP release dates strictly on track. Your primary focus will be supporting Wärtsilä’s organization in operational delivery and ensuring our external offshore partner achieves high throughput and quality.

• Salary: about 4,000-6,000 EUR/month based on your background and skillset. For highly experienced candidates, a higher salary level may also be negotiated.

Work tasks

• Overseeing daily operational development activities and sprint cadences across functional workgroups (e.g., Sales, Logistics, Finance).
• Managing the operations for enhancement requests (ServiceNow) delivery from planning to release.
• Supporting the monthly planning sessions, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and release readiness checks.
• Serving as Wärtsilä’s operational interface toward the external application development lead and offshore development team.
• Managing the development team capacity based on agreed allocations.
• Tracking the application development KPIs to continuously optimize throughput.

We are looking for

Mandatory requirements:

• Strong track record in a Service Manager, Delivery Manager, or similar operational lead role within IT or ERP environments.
• Hands-on experience with agile delivery methodologies, sprint management, and release cadences.
• Proven capability in managing external IT service providers and vendor deliverables.
• Excellent written and spoken English language skills.

Considered as an advantage:

• Experience in working with Indian offshore development partners and managing cross-cultural vendor environments.
• General understanding of SAP environments (e.g., S/4HANA, Fiori, BTP) and release management concepts.
• Finnish language skills.

Practicalities

• Location and remote work policy: Primarily Helsinki (Salmisaari), but Vaasa or Turku are also possible. Hybrid model.
• Background checks: The selected candidate will undergo a standard security clearance (turvallisuusselvitys) by Finnish Security Intelligence Service.
