Job summary

Thor is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Lead for a 12-month initial contract in Helsinki. You will oversee electrical design for hyperscale data centres and manage external A&E consultants and multidisciplinary teams to ensure robust, procurement-ready solutions.

This client-side role focuses on delivering mission-critical MV/LV power architectures, HV infrastructure, and timely utility connections, with travel to Helsinki as required. Transition to permanent employment is anticipated.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of electrical engineering with progressive leadership responsibilities.
• Strong hyperscale/data centre electrical design experience.
• Proven experience managing external A&E consultants and multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent understanding of mission-critical MV/LV power architecture and the full data centre power supply chain.
• Experience with HV infrastructure, substations, grid connections and utility power delivery timelines.
• Ability to make independent technical decisions and represent the client's interests.
• Finnish language skills would be advantageous but are not essential.

Electrical Design Lead | 12-Month Initial Contract Transition to Perm | Helsinki

I'm currently partnering with a data centre developer looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Design Lead to support the development of next-generation, hyperscale AI data centres across Europe.

This is a client-side, design-focused position, rather than a traditional construction role. You'll play a key part in overseeing electrical design, challenging external engineering consultants and ensuring designs are technically robust, commercially viable and ready for procurement and construction.

Location: Helsinki

Start: ASAP

Contract: 12-month initial contract, with the intention to transition into a permanent position

Travel: Pre Con: once per month to Helsinki

Project Kick Off: increasing to a minimum of twice monthly to Helsinki.

What We're Looking For:

• 10+ years of electrical engineering experience, with progressive technical leadership responsibilities.
• Strong hyperscale/data centre electrical design experience.
• Proven experience managing external A&E consultants and multidisciplinary design teams.
• Excellent understanding of mission‑critical MV/LV power architecture, redundancy and the complete data centre power supply chain.
