Job summary

Employ Global is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Data Centers team in Finland. You will design, implement, and maintain electrical systems for large-scale, mission-critical data centre infrastructure, with a hands-on, client-facing role and significant technical responsibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in electrical design/engineering for data centres or critical facilities.
• Knowledge of data centre operational demands (power density, cooling, redundancy).
• Proficiency with electrical design software and CAD tools.
• Familiarity with Finnish SFS regulations, IEC standards, and Tier classifications.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for hyperscale data centres including MV/LV power distribution, UPS, generators, and emergency backup infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain electrical schematics, BOMs, and installation drawings.
• Conduct load calculations and capacity planning to ensure reliability under mission-critical demands.
• Ensure compliance with Finnish SFS, IEC standards, and best practices.
• Collaborate with MEP teams, architects, and project managers on specifications, design criteria and budgets.
• Support project engineering management with technical documentation and site oversight.
• Recommend new technologies and systems improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.

Job description

Our client, a leading global infrastructure consulting firm, is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join their Data Centers team for projects in Finland. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining electrical systems for large-scale, mission-critical data centre infrastructure. This is a hands-on, client-facing position with significant technical responsibility and career growth potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for hyperscale data centres, including medium and low-voltage power distribution, UPS systems, generators, and emergency backup infrastructure
• Develop and maintain electrical schematics, bills of materials, and installation drawings
• Conduct load calculations and capacity planning to ensure system reliability under mission-critical demands
• Ensure compliance with Finnish electrical standards (SFS), IEC standards, and international best practices
• Collaborate with MEP teams, architects, and project managers on specifications, design criteria, and budgets
• Support project engineering management with technical documentation and site oversight
• Recommend new technologies and systems improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent professional qualification
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in electrical design and/or electrical engineering with focus on data centre or critical facilities infrastructure
• Deep understanding of data centre operational demands (power density, cooling integration, redundancy)
• Proficiency in electrical design software and CAD tools
• Strong knowledge of medium and low-voltage systems, power distribution, and emergency power design
• Familiarity with industry standards: Finnish SFS regulations, IEC standards, and data centre design best practices (Tier classification)
• Excellent technical communication and stakeholder management skills
• Fluent in English; Finnish language skills preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (Diplomainssinööri or DI) licensure or equivalent professional accreditation
• CDCP (Certified Data Center Professional) or CEM (Certified Energy Manager) certification
• Experience with BIM software (Revit, ACC Cloud, or similar)
• Prior involvement in large-scale data centre design or construction projects
• Experience working on hyperscale or hyperscale-adjacent projects
• Knowledge of LEED or similar sustainability certifications
