Job summary

European Investment Bank (EIB) is seeking an Investment Officer to originate and execute venture debt and equity-type investments in the Cleantech Equity & Growth Capital Division. The role is based at the Luxembourg headquarters with regular office presence and relocation support offered.

You will lead the full investment lifecycle, collaborate with internal and external partners, and represent the Bank at sector events.

Qualifications

• University degree (Bachelor level or equivalent) in Finance, Business Administration, Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5+ years in venture debt, venture/growth capital, private equity or investment banking.
• Proficiency in financial modelling in MS Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; English fluency; French or other EU languages advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead direct equity-type transactions from origination to disbursement.
• Originate investment opportunities aligned with EIB priorities.
• Perform due diligence with internal teams.
• Structure transactions and prepare term sheets for equity-type instruments.
• Prepare investment proposals with concise rationale and key risks.
• Represent the Bank at conferences and sector events.
