Job summary

The Women’s Health Team at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Oulu invites applications for a statistical expert. You will work with large register datasets (PMOS-FiRe), cohort data (NFBC, WENDY) and questionnaire data (FINNETWORK, WeWork), contributing across planning, analysis, interpretation, visualization and publishing.

We offer a supportive team of about 30 people, on-site work in Oulu, opportunities to supervise students and researchers, and a salary based on Finnish university pay

Qualifications

• A University degree in Statistics, Bioinformatics, Mathematics or closely related discipline.
• Experience in statistical data analysis and modelling, as well as data management.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Familiarity with data analysis software (especially R and SPSS, but other options such as SAS or STATA can also be suitable for the role).
• Ability to work independently and take responsibility for planning and delivering tasks.
• Willingness to learn new methods.

Responsibilities

• Work as statistical expert for the team, contributing to analysis and interpretation.
• Use and manage large register data sets (e.g. PMOS-FiRe), cohort data sets (NFBC, WENDY) and questionnaire data (FINNETWORK, WeWork).
• Involved in all stages of research from planning to analysis execution, managing data access permits, interpretation, visualization, and publishing.
• Provide hands-on instruction of students and researchers in statistical analysis, data processing, and variable construction.
