Job summary

The University of Oulu invites applications for a Biostatistician within the Lifecourse Medicine and Birth Cohort Research Group of Clinical Medicine. The role focuses on data management, integration of diverse data types, and contributing to analysis plans for studies on preterm birth outcomes.

You will work with national and Nordic data sources, apply rigorous statistical methods, and support group members.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in statistics, mathematics, bioinformatics or a related field.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Very good familiarity with at least one commonly used statistical software.
• Experience with data management and statistical analysis in large quantitative datasets.
• Good communication and work organisation skills.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for data management including data cleaning, harmonisation and documentation and preparation of analysis datasets across diverse data types.
• Contribute to the design of data management solutions to maximise work efficacy and data security.
• Handle data access and ethics committee applications and other regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to research and statistical analysis plans and conduct analyses accordingly.
• Provide advice and training to other group members on data management and analysis methods.
• Participate in other related activities of the research group.
• Actively train to learn new statistical methods and data management approaches.
• Assist with developing scientific research questions and writing papers when appropriate.
