Job summary

Shepherd Center is seeking a Billing and Collection Specialist to manage hospital and physician accounts, ensuring timely payments and resolution. Onsite with potential hybrid work, the role requires strong problem solving to overcome billing roadblocks and accurate coding within the A/R system.

Ideal candidates will have 3–5 years of hospital billing experience, proficiency in spreadsheets and databases, and solid organizational and math skills to analyze contracts and payments.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of experience with hospital and physician billing and collections.
• Inpatient, outpatient, and physician billing/collection experience.
• Strong data entry and numerical analysis skills to review payments and contracts.
• Proficiency with spreadsheet and database software.

Responsibilities

• Meet monthly cash goals for hospital and physician accounts.
• Code accounts in the billing system according to requirements.
• Identify and report unusual collection issues to supervisors.
• Post all billing activity to the accounts receivable system.
• Obtain medical records and ensure necessary documents are attached at billing.
• Monitor unbilled accounts and prepare weekly status reports.
