Job summary

Mercor is seeking PDF Annotation & Transcription Experts – Bengali for a remote contract role. You will source Bengali PDFs with multimodal content, annotate structure with precise region types, and transcribe text verbatim in Bengali script.

A two-person review ensures quality and accuracy across hundreds of pages. Must be a native Bengali speaker with exact character-level accuracy and experience in document-related tasks such as annotation, transcription, localization, or proofreading.

Qualifications

• Native Bengali speaker with full command of script, diacritics, conjunct forms.
• Experience with documents: annotation, transcription, localization, proofreading, or related data review.
• Exact character-level accuracy; single wrong diacritic is a defect.
• Systematic application of a taxonomy across hundreds of pages.
• Comfort with unfamiliar layouts: multi-column newspapers, handwritten forms.

Responsibilities

• Source Bengali PDFs with multimodal elements and record sources.
• Annotate structure: bound and label regions with types and reading order.
• Record relationships: link regions to parent tables/figures.
• Transcribe faithfully: reproduce Bengali text exactly, flag illegible regions.
• Capture page metadata: language, document type, source, dimensions, and flags for tables, formulas, handwriting.
• Review a colleague's work end-to-end as part of a two-person review.
