Job summary

Metsä Group in Espoo seeks an AI Developer to advance AI/ML adoption across the group. You will design, deploy, and maintain production-grade AI capabilities, transforming business needs into scalable, secure solutions.

You will collaborate with data scientists, engineers and business stakeholders, implement MLOps, and ensure production deployments meet cost and security standards. Passion for practical AI is essential.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD degree in Applied Mathematics, Economics, Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or another similar discipline.
• Strong expertise in AI application development, machine learning deployment and MLOps practices.
• Strong software engineering and programming skills in Python, together with experience using modern AI and machine learning frameworks.
• Experience with version control systems, such as Azure DevOps Repos, and building CI/CD pipelines.
• Hands-on experience in AI solution development with Azure Databricks, Azure AI Foundry capabilities and Microsoft Azure cloud services.
• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps pipelines, Terraform or similar deployment tools and methodologies.
• A good understanding of scalable, secure and production-grade AI solution architectures and solution costs factors and FinOps.
• The ability to integrate AI capabilities into business processes, applications, APIs, digital services and data platforms.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with both technical experts and business stakeholders.
• In addition, you understand the importance of responsible AI, governance and information security. You can balance technical quality with business value, scalability, maintainability and cost efficiency while ensuring that solutions comply with Metsä Group's architecture principles and development standards. Experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio is seen as an advantage.

to join our Digital & AI function in Espoo, Finland.

What is the job that awaits you?

As an AI Developer, you will play a key role in advancing the adoption of artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions across Metsä Group. You will design, develop, deploy and maintain production-grade AI capabilities that create measurable business value.

In this role, you will transform business requirements into scalable, secure and maintainable AI solutions. You will develop AI applications, services and integrations using machine learning and generative AI technologies, deploy and monitor models in production environments and integrate AI capabilities into business processes, applications, APIs and data platforms.

You will be responsible for industrializing AI and machine learning solutions. You will implement MLOps and AI engineering practices, build reliable deployment processes and continuously optimize solution performance, scalability, operational reliability and cost efficiency throughout the solution lifecycle.

Collaboration is an essential part of your role. You will work closely with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Software Developers, Architects and business stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of AI solutions. As a trusted expert, you will provide guidance on AI application development, MLOps, deployment architectures and the integration of AI into business processes and digital services. In addition, you will maintain development best practices in developers handbooks.

This is a permanent position and you will report to the Development Manager, AI.

What are we expecting of you?
