Full Stack Python Django Developer – Full Time, Onsite, Barcelona.

As a growing, international company, currently experiencing high levels of continuing growth, we seek a full-time, in-house Full Stack Python / Django Developer to join our growing development team; you will be responsible for the overall design and development of our bespoke booking engine and student administration application.

EBS uses WordPress for its marketing websites, and has developed a bespoke, custom built booking engine / backoffice application to process bookings, students and to run many different aspects of the business. This role is to ensure our booking engine / back-office application can continue serving the future requirements of our growing business.

It’s a crucial role within the our development department, the back-office is our central nervous system for the entire business, and most, if not all business operations are ran from it. Downtime is not an option. You will have complete responsibility for the application, delivering new features and services, bug fixing and ensuring its uptime and recoverability.

In this role, you will work closely with senior members of the development team / business and ultimately be responsible for both delivering new features to improve the performance and functionality of application and refining and evolving the exiting codebase.

WHO ARE YOU?

As a Full Stack developer, you’ll have a Bachelors or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent who wants to work for a company that constantly challenges you to develop robust solutions for its ever changing business requirements. You will already have gained commercial experience in architecting, designing and developing robust applications systems. You will need to be able to quickly learn and use new technologies, troubleshoot difficult problems and be an expert with the software lifecycle including scoping and estimation of requirements along with writing of technical documentation where required.

The key requirement is the ability to work independently; designing, developing and deploying solutions, and to deliver projects on time with minimal direction – if you want to just want to be a developer who hides away in a bigger development team, then this isn’t the role for you. We don’t want a typical heads-down developer, you will be the lead developer for our back-office, and that comes with responsibility, we realise it’s a challenge and want to find someone whose up for it.

Python, Django, and MySQL, Nginx form our basic stack so you’ll be very confident and experienced with these technologies.

• Significant real world experience developing web applications using a Python / Django / SQL stack. (Examples required). Python 3+ years experience. Django Framework 3+ years.
• Proven ability to write clean, well-documented code (Code samples required.)
• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Design.
• Experience with Git / Github. One of your first tasks will be to set up Git environment up.
• Experience with creating secure websites or apps. Knowledge of defensive coding and be aware of code and application security. SQL injection, XSS vulnerabilities etc.
• Server knowledge and set up. We host with Rackspace.
• Be familiar with writing API’s and consuming external APIs. Must have experience with JSON and XML formats.
• Be familiar with writing refactoring codebases, as the application grows so does its refactoring requirements.
• Knowledge of data modelling and SQL optimization within a MySQL environment. Working knowledge of PHP beneficial.
• You have experience integrating marketing technology into platforms, whether that’s CRM systems like Salesforce (or similar CRM systems) or marketing automation platforms like Hubspot. (We currently use Hubspot but may migrate away during the next quarter).
• Must be comfortable working in a ‘start-up’ environment meeting tight deadlines with limited resources. Team player, you’ll get to work with different business operations, finance, admin, marketing are all shareholders. Ability to clearly communicate ideas and solutions to technical and non-technical teams;
• Understanding of User Experience design; Appreciate design and work in a creative environment where required.
