We are looking for a Data Scientist to join our Vodafone Business Data & Artificial Intelligence team, working alongside 20+ experienced, dynamic, and passionate data scientists on internal and external data monetization projects. Projects include data engineering of massive volumes of real-time, location-based data, applying statistical analysis, making predictions on time series data, running simulation scenarios, using unsupervised learning to detect anomalies, developing data visualizations and dashboards, and deploying supervised learning models in production on cloud architectures to optimize marketing campaigns. The responsibilities for the Data Scientist role include :

• Data Science : Descriptive and predictive analytics, including selecting, defining, and executing algorithms, models, tests, and visualizations.
• Technology : Selecting, defining, and executing appropriate programming frameworks, file formats, data storage solutions, and automated data flows.
• Architecture : Defining and following best practices for Big Data, Analytics, and AI use cases using on-premises and cloud solutions.
• Management : Reporting to project managers, clients, and teams; estimating resources and timelines during project cycles.
• Innovation : Staying updated with state-of-the-art techniques, models, frameworks, and approaches for DS & AI activities.

What you bring :

• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, required.
• At least 2 years of professional experience in Data Science roles, required.
• A Master’s in Data Science, AI, Data Engineering, or related field, preferred.
• PhD and / or research experience, preferred.

Required technical skills include :

• Experience with code repositories like Git.
• Expertise in at least one Cloud environment (preferably GCP or AWS) on data-related services.

Nice to have skills include :

• Proficiency in Python, including handling complex projects, object-oriented programming, and building production-ready code.
• Proficiency in Spark, understanding Spark DAGs, master and executor nodes, debugging Spark jobs, and setting up Spark clusters.
• Ability to apply ML and AI models effectively, evaluating outcomes for business impact.
• Strong understanding of probability, statistical inference, hypothesis testing, and experimental design.
• Data visualization skills to combine data-driven solutions with business context.
• Knowledge of API design and development.
• Experience deploying and supporting ML models in cloud environments (ML Engineering and MLOps).
• Best practices in Data Engineering for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and ETL processes (e.g., Apache Airflow).
