JD Logistics is establishing a new Large Item Distribution Center in the Madrid area. The senior leader will own operations, safety, and strategic execution for bulky goods, ensuring a smooth launch, optimized space, and damage-free throughput.

Fluent English and Spanish are required, with a strong track record in greenfield deployments, industrial safety, and cross-functional leadership. Spanish regulatory alignment and shift flexibility are essential for success.

Formación

Context of the Positio

As part of our strategic international expansion, JD Logistics is establishing its core infrastructure within the Spanish market. This is a critical greenfield deployment phase, which requires our founding leadership team to manage high operational fluidity, establish local processes from the ground up, and translate centralized global capabilities into localized execution.

This position is designed for an accomplished senior logistics leader specializing in heavy-volume, bulky goods distribution (Grandes Superficies / Gran Volume). The role demands a professional with a strong command of industrial facility safety, specialized warehouse layout optimization, and the leadership capacity to manage high-turnover cross-docking operations.

The Mission & Core Scope

• The Mission: Take complete operational, safety, and strategic ownership of our brand-new Large Item Distribution Center in the Madrid area, ensuring a flawless launch, optimized space utilization, and damage-free inventory throughput.
• The Scope: You will take full accountability for the entire bulky goods fulfillment ecosystem—from specialized racking configuration and heavy machinery inbound/outbound operations to driving strict compliance with the Madrid Logistics Collective Agreement (Convenio Colectivo) and industrial safety standard.

Crucial Expectations & Performance Targ

To provide a clear understanding of the accountability required, the successful candidate will be evaluated on the following key metrics during the initial 6 to 12 months.

• Operational Commissioning & Layout Optimization: Successfully execute the launch and scaling of the Large Item DC, maximizing storage density and workflow efficiency specifically designed for non-standard, bulky freight.
• Safety & Incident-Free Performance: Establish an impeccable workplace safety culture, ensuring 100% compliance with heavy machinery regulations (forklifts, reach trucks) and zero critical compliance findings from local Spanish regulatory bodies.
• Inventory Protection & Damage Mitigation: Implement rigorous handling and quality control protocols to maintain high inventory accuracy and minimize the product damage rates typical of large-item logistics.
• Strategic Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner seamlessly with our 1PL/3PL transportation teams and white-glove delivery operations to coordinate heavy-item distribution pipelines from the warehouse floor to the final consumer.

Position Requirements

• Greenfield Launch Expertise: You must have a verified background of successfully launching or managing a large-scale, high-volume distribution center or industrial hub from scratch, with a strong focus on bulky goods, furniture, home appliances, or heavy retail.
• Industrial Leadership: Proven experience managing large operations involving heavy material handling equipment (MHE) and a solid grasp of Spanish warehouse safety regulations (Normas de Seguridad Industrial).
• Language Proficiency: Professional fluency in English and Spanish is mandatory for cross-border stakeholder reporting and local staff management. Knowledge of Mandarin is considered a strong corporate asset.
• Operational Flexibility: High adaptability regarding shift structures, schedules, and changing operational deadlines inherent to a comprehensive infrastructure launch.
