Job summary

Siemens Energy is seeking a Substation Retrofit Service Project Manager in Madrid. In a hybrid role, you will lead retrofit projects from site surveys to delivery, coordinating engineering, procurement and commissioning teams.

You’ll optimize technical solutions, manage costs and schedules, and maintain clear communication with customers. A hands‑on electrical background and strong stakeholder management are essential.

Qualifications

  • Higher Vocational Training in electrical systems or a bachelor’s/master’s in electrical, industrial, or energy engineering.
  • Practical electrical background with ability to read technical drawings and interfaces.
  • Willingness to learn about retrofit and high‑voltage systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills; know when to seek support.
  • MS Office; SAP, Salesforce and project planning tools desirable.
  • Willingness to travel within Spain and spend short periods on-site.
  • Fluent in Spanish; English proficiency required for international coordination.
  • Passion for service, retrofit, and modernization of high‑voltage assets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead retrofit projects from order handover to closure with technical and commercial excellence.

  • Prepare technical and commercial offers, including estimates, schedules, and risk assessments.
  • Develop solutions with engineering, product specialists, and commissioning teams.
  • Plan procurement, logistics, and on-site activities to return to service on time.
  • Control costs, manage invoicing, and handle contractual changes and risks.
  • Maintain direct communication with customers and provide project updates.
  • Coordinate on-site resources and ensure HSE and quality standards.
  • Identify additional service opportunities from customer knowledge and asset condition.

As a Retrofit Project Manager, you will take charge of small and medium-sized retrofit projects, overseeing everything from the modernization of circuit breakers to the integration of control systems. Imagine collaborating with engineering teams, factories, and customers to deliver innovative solutions while navigating the challenges of existing facilities. You will lead technical coordination, manage contracts, and ensure seamless communication, all while making a significant impact on operational efficiency and safety.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Manage retrofit projects from order handover to successful closure, ensuring technical and commercial excellence.
  • Understand customer needs and translate facility constraints into clear execution plans through site surveys.
  • Prepare technical and commercial offers, including cost estimates, schedules, and risk assessments.
  • Develop and coordinate technical solutions with engineering, product specialists, and commissioning teams.
  • Plan and oversee procurement, logistics, and on-site activities, ensuring timely return to service.
  • Control project costs, manage invoicing, and address contractual changes and risks.
  • Maintain direct communication with customers, providing updates and addressing any deviations.
  • Coordinate on-site resources and ensure compliance with HSE and quality standards.
  • Identify additional service opportunities based on customer knowledge and asset conditions.
What You Bring
  • Higher Vocational Training in electrical systems or a bachelor’s/master’s degree in electrical, industrial, or energy engineering.
  • A practical electrical background with the ability to understand technical drawings and interfaces.
  • A strong attitude, technical curiosity, and a willingness to learn about retrofit and high-voltage systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to seek support when needed.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with SAP, Salesforce, and project planning tools is desirable.
  • Willingness to travel within Spain and spend short periods on-site as required.
  • Fluent in Spanish; English proficiency isrequired for international coordination.
  • A passion for building a career in service, retrofit, and modernization of high-voltage assets.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in high-voltage equipment, substations, or retrofit projects is valued but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of circuit breakers, AIS/GIS equipment, and auxiliary systems is a plus.
