Job summary

Vamos Academy International is seeking a Student Services Coordinator to be the main point of contact for non-academic matters for students. Based at our Málaga campus, you will support accommodation, social programming, and daily living logistics while closely coordinating with teaching and management.

You will maintain regular communication with students, identify risks of early dropout, and contribute to a welcoming campus culture across two locations (Málaga and Buenos Aires).

Qualifications

  • Strong English - B2 as a minimum, higher preferred - and fluent Spanish.
  • Experience in student services, customer success, hospitality, tourism or pastoral care.
  • Real empathy, paired with the organisation to follow up on forty people at once.
  • The judgement to tell the difference between a complaint and a crisis.
  • The right to work in Spain or in Argentina, depending on the campus.
  • A third language is a genuine advantage - many of our students are more honest in their own.

Responsibilities

  • Onboard new students in their first days - the week where homesickness and enthusiasm are both at their peak.
  • Stay in regular contact throughout their course, not only when something breaks.
  • Handle the non-academic side: accommodation, the social programme, practicalities of living in a new city, the occasional genuine crisis.
  • Collect feedback properly and channel it to the teaching team and to management, including the feedback nobody enjoys hearing.
  • Watch retention. Understand why students leave early and reduce it.
  • Help build a social programme people actually want to attend.

Skills

Strong English
Spanish fluency

Job description

Students rarely tell their teacher that something is wrong. They tell somebody else, or they tell nobody and go home early.

This role is that somebody else. You are the student’s point of contact for everything that is not academic, and the route their feedback takes to reach the people who can act on it.

What you would actually do
  • Onboard new students in their first days - the week where homesickness and enthusiasm are both at their peak.

  • Experience in student services, customer success, hospitality, tourism or pastoral care.

  • The judgement to tell the difference between a complaint and a crisis.
  • The right to work in Spain or in Argentina, depending on the campus.
  • A third language is a genuine advantage - many of our students are more honest in their own.
Where you would work

Our Málaga campus at Calle Reding 6, 29016 Málaga, or our Buenos Aires campus at Maipú 464, C1084 Buenos Aires.

About Vamos Academy

Vamos Academy is a Spanish and English language school with two campuses: one in Málaga, on Spain’s Costa del Sol, and one in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Students come to us from all over the world - some for a fortnight, some for a whole academic year, many through university exchange and Erasmus programmes.

We are a small enough school that you will know your students’ names and they will know yours. That is the point of us. It also means the person we hire has real influence over how the place runs.

Questions people ask before applying
Is this a teaching role?

No. You work alongside the teaching team but you do not take classes. Your focus is everything around the classroom.

What does a difficult day look like?

A student’s accommodation falls through, another is ill and far from home, and a third tells you their course is too easy - all before lunch. If that sounds manageable rather than alarming, this is your job.

Do I need experience in education?

No. Hospitality, tourism and customer success transfer well.
