Vamos Academy is a Spanish and English language school with campuses in Málaga, Spain, and Buenos Aires, Argentina. We are seeking a language coach to manage a group of students, track progress, and take proactive steps to keep each learner improving throughout their time with us.

You will teach beginner to intermediate classes, set concrete goals with students, and collaborate with the teaching team to address curriculum needs.

Formación

• Near-native fluency in Spanish or English with grammatical knowledge.
• Degree in languages, linguistics, education or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Some teaching experience, ideally at lower levels.
• Proactive follow-up mindset.
• Right to work in Spain or Argentina.

• Hold a portfolio of students and stay in regular contact with each of them.
• Set concrete goals with every student and review them honestly at fixed points.
• Spot the ones who are drifting before they disappear, and intervene.
• Teach classes at beginner to intermediate levels.
• Feed what you learn back to the teaching team - if six students are all stuck on the subjunctive, that is a curriculum problem, not six personal ones.
• Help students choose what to do next when their course ends.

Most students who give up on a language do not give up in class. They give up in week five, quietly, when nobody notices that they have stopped improving.

A language coach is the person who notices. You would look after your own group of students across their whole time with us, know exactly where each of them is stuck, and do something about it.

What you would actually do

• Hold a portfolio of students and stay in regular contact with each of them.

• Teach classes at beginner to intermediate levels.

What we are looking for

• Near-native command of the language you would coach in - Spanish or English - with the grammatical knowledge to explain why, not just what.
• A degree in languages, linguistics, education or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Some teaching experience, ideally at lower levels where progress is fastest and most fragile.
• The kind of person who follows up without being chased.
• The right to work in Spain or in Argentina, depending on the campus.

About Vamos Academy

Vamos Academy is a Spanish and English language school with two campuses: one in Málaga, on Spain’s Costa del Sol, and one in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Students come to us from all over the world - some for a fortnight, some for a whole academic year, many through university exchange and Erasmus programmes.

We are a small enough school that you will know your students’ names and they will know yours. That is the point of us. It also means the person we hire has real influence over how the place runs.

Questions people ask before applying

How is this different from being a teacher?

A teacher owns the classroom. A coach owns the student’s whole journey - including the weeks when they are not in your class at all.

Do I need to be a native speaker?

No, and there is an argument that a coach who learned the language themselves is better at it. You do need near-native fluency and real grammatical knowledge.

How many students would I look after?

It depends on the season and the campus. We will give you a realistic number at the first conversation rather than a flattering one.
