United ITS seeks a senior Storage & Backup Architect to design and implement enterprise storage and backup architectures across data centers in Valencia and Brindisi, with remote options within Region 3 (Southern & Eastern Europe).

Role requires 8+ years in storage and backup management, hands-on NetApp, Dell PowerStore/ECS, and Veeam experience; scripting and automation skills (Python, Ansible) are essential. Lead projects, DR testing, and vendor collaboration.

Formación

• Minimum 8+ years of relevant IT work experience in managing and configuring enterprise Storage and Backup environments in a complex environment.
• Extensive hands-on experience with block and file storage systems across multiple vendor platforms (NetApp, Dell PowerStore, Dell ECS).
• Expert-level troubleshooting for storage and backup infrastructures.
• Solid understanding of storage technologies: Fibre Channel, iSCSI, VSANs, WWPNs.

Responsabilidades

• Design and implement enterprise storage and backup architectures aligned with business, availability, recovery, capacity, and security requirements.
• Administer and maintain storage arrays, SAN fabrics, and backup platforms with daily health checks, provisioning, host integration, and replication.
• Plan and execute installations, upgrades, migrations, capacity expansions, and POC deployments with testing and rollback procedures.
• Monitor system health, performance, capacity, and backup success; resolve bottlenecks and implement improvements.
• Provide Tier 3 support, lead root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions; perform restores and DR testing.

Required Technical Skills

SCOPE OF WORK:

• Design and implement enterprise storage and backup architectures aligned with business, availability, recovery, capacity, and security requirements.
• Administer and maintain storage arrays, SAN fabrics, and backup platforms, including daily health checks, storage provisioning, host integration, backup client configuration, schedules, retention policies, and replication.
• Plan and execute installations, upgrades, migrations, capacity expansions, and proof-of-concept deployments, including testing, validation, and rollback procedures.
• Monitor and analyze system health, performance, capacity, and backup success; resolve bottlenecks and implement improvements.
• Resolve incidents, problems, and service requests; provide Tier 3 support, lead root-cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Perform restores and recovery tests, and support disaster-recovery exercises to validate data protection and recovery capabilities.
• Apply security controls, hardening standards, and approved configuration changes in accordance with established policies and change-management procedures.
• Collaborate with vendors and internal teams on maintenance, upgrades, interoperability, and complex issue resolution.
• Develop and maintain tools and scripts to automate storage and backup provisioning, monitoring, reporting, and routine operations.
• Deliver storage and backup projects for the organization and its partner entities, including technical assessments, business cases, project proposals, and operational handover.
• Maintain technical designs, configuration records, runbooks, and recovery procedures, share knowledge and promote best practices within the team.
• Participate in standby/on-call duties, planned maintenance, and other service-coverage arrangements when required.

The resource MUST have the following skills and experience:

• Minimum 8+ years of relevant IT work experience in managing and configuring enterprise Storage and Backup environments and related services in a complex heterogenous environment
• Extensive hands-on experience in the administration and troubleshooting of block and file storage systems across multiple vendor platforms (e.g., NetApp, Dell PowerStore, Dell ECS systems)
• Excellent knowledge in the installation and administration of Enterprise Backup systems (e.g., DELL Avamar, PPDM, Data Domain, Veeam B&R and other market leaders in backup solutions)
• Expert-level troubleshooting and problem resolution for storage and backup infrastructures.
• Solid understanding and knowledge of storage technologies (Cisco/Brocade Fabric switches, VSANs, WWPNs, NPIV, multipathing, Fibre channel, iSCSI)
• Strong understanding of data protection, disaster recovery, and best practices in backup and storage management.
• Good understanding and knowledge of networking technologies
• Working Experience in shell scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, Ansible, Terraform)
• Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision
• Customer-centric approach to delivery and problem solving
• Good knowledge of ITIL service management methodology

The resource SHOULD have the following skills and experience:

• Experience with Hyper Converged Infrastructure or Software Defined Storage solutions isan advantage
• Good presentation skills and ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical audience
• Experience with service reporting and business analytics
• Experience with cloud storage solutions (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage)
• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)

Relevant certifications related to abovementioned virtualization solutions are highly desirable:

• Industry-recognized certifications in Storage, Backup, or Cloud Technologies.
• Certifications in any programming language or scripting framework (e.g., Python, Ansible, PowerShell).
• ITIL, ISO20000, PRINCE2 certifications

Yes, up to 5 days per week.

On-call requirements:

One week per month (rotation subject to the number of team members)
