Pragmatike is seeking a Storage and Backup Engineer to design, implement, and operate enterprise storage and backup infrastructure. The role encompasses architecture, implementation, and day-to-day administration, with a focus on onboarding new services and adapting solutions to evolving technologies to ensure reliable, secure data protection.

Formación

• Minimum 8+ years of IT experience in managing and configuring enterprise Storage and Backup environments.
• Hands-on administration and troubleshooting of block and file storage systems across multiple vendors.
• Extensive experience with enterprise backup systems (e.g., Dell Avamar, PPDM, Data Domain, Veeam).
• Strong knowledge of storage networking (FC, iSCSI, NVMe, VSANs) and disaster recovery best practices.
• Experience with scripting and automation (Python, Ansible, Terraform).

Responsabilidades

• Design and implement enterprise storage and backup architectures aligned with availability, recovery, capacity, and security requirements.
• Administer and maintain storage arrays, SAN fabrics, and backup platforms with health checks and policy management.
• Plan installations, upgrades, migrations, capacity expansions, and PoC deployments with testing and rollback procedures.
• Monitor system health, performance, capacity, and backup success; resolve bottlenecks and improve processes.
• Handle incidents and problems; provide Tier 3 support and lead root-cause analysis.
• Perform restores and disaster-recovery exercises to validate data protection capabilities.
• Apply security controls and change-management procedures to meet governance requirements.
• Collaborate with vendors and internal teams on maintenance and integration projects.
• Develop tools and scripts to automate provisioning, monitoring, reporting, and operations.
• Deliver storage and backup projects with technical assessments and handover documentation.
• Maintain runbooks, designs, and recovery procedures; share best practices within the team.
• Participate in standby/on-call duties and on-call rotations when required.

About The Opportunity

Pragmatike is hiring a Storage and Backup Engineer to provide engineering expertise and operational support to Storage and Backup infrastructure either within the organization or for partner entities. The role combines architecture, design, implementation, and day-to-day administration, with responsibility for onboarding new services, adapting solutions to evolving technologies and customer needs, and ensuring reliable, secure, and recoverable infrastructure

The ideal candidate is an experienced Storage and Backup Engineer with at least 8 years of handson experience in supporting, designing, managing and optimizing enterprise storage and backup environments. The candidate will work under the guidance of the Team Lead, Infrastructure Operations, and collaborate with other support teams. The candidate is expected to demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, a proactive approach to service improvements and the ability to work independently while supporting a team-oriented environment.

What You’ll Do

• Design and implement enterprise storage and backup architectures aligned with business, availability, recovery, capacity, and security requirements.
• Administer and maintain storage arrays, SAN fabrics, and backup platforms, including daily health checks, storage provisioning, host integration, backup client configuration, schedules, retention policies, and replication.
• Plan and execute installations, upgrades, migrations, capacity expansions, and proof-ofconcept deployments, including testing, validation, and rollback procedures.
• Monitor and analyze system health, performance, capacity, and backup success; resolve bottlenecks and implement improvements.
• Resolve incidents, problems, and service requests; provide Tier 3 support, lead root-cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Perform restores and recovery tests, and support disaster-recovery exercises to validate data protection and recovery capabilities.
• Apply security controls, hardening standards, and approved configuration changes in accordance with established policies and change-management procedures.
• Collaborate with vendors and internal teams on maintenance, upgrades, interoperability, and complex issue resolution.
• Develop and maintain tools and scripts to automate storage and backup provisioning, monitoring, reporting, and routine operations.
• Deliver storage and backup projects for the organization and its partner entities, including technical assessments, business cases, project proposals, and operational handover.
• Maintain technical designs, configuration records, runbooks, and recovery procedures; share knowledge and promote best practices within the team.
• Participate in standby/on-call duties, planned maintenance, and other service-coverage arrangements when required.

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 8+ years of relevant IT work experience in managing and configuring enterprise Storage and Backup environments and related services in a complex heterogenous environment
• Extensive hands-on experience in the administration and troubleshooting of block and file storage systems across multiple vendor platforms (e.g., NetApp, Dell PowerStore, Dell ECS systems)
• Excellent knowledge in the installation and administration of Enterprise Backup systems (e.g., DELL Avamar, PPDM, Data Domain, Veeam B&R and other market leaders in backup solutions)
• Expert-level troubleshooting and problem resolution for storage and backup infrastructures.
• Solid understanding and knowledge of storage technologies (Cisco/Brocade Fabric switches, VSANs, WWPNs, NPIV, multipathing, Fibre channel, iSCSI)
• Strong understanding of data protection, disaster recovery, and best practices in backup and storage management.
• Good understanding and knowledge of networking technologies
• Working Experience in shell scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, Ansible, Terraform)
• Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision
• Customer-centric approach to delivery and problem solving
• Good knowledge of ITIL service management methodology

Nice to Have

• Experience with Hyper Converged Infrastructure or Software Defined Storage solutions is an advantage
• Good presentation skills and ability to convey complex technical information to nontechnical audience
• Experience with service reporting and business analytics
• Experience with cloud storage solutions (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage)
• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
• Industry-recognized certifications in Storage, Backup, or Cloud Technologies.
• Certifications in any programming language or scripting framework (e.g., Python, Ansible, PowerShell).
• ITIL, ISO20000, PRINCE2 certifications

Working Conditions

• Teleworking: up to 5 days per week
• On-call: one week per month (rotation depends on the number of team members)
• Overtime must be pre-approved by the client Team Leader
• Overtime rates: 125% of the daily rate Monday to Saturday, and 150% on Sundays and client public holidays
• Stand-by availability for on-call services is included in the daily rate
• Interventions during an on-call period are billed at the overtime rates above
• Overtime and on-call interventions may alternatively be compensated with time off, if mutually agreed by both parties
