Jobgether, on behalf of a partner company, seeks a Storage & Backup Engineer based in Spain to design, implement, and maintain enterprise storage and data protection infrastructure across heterogeneous IT environments.

You will manage storage arrays, SAN fabrics, and backup platforms, lead incident resolution, drive DR exercises, and collaborate with vendors and internal teams to ensure high availability and security.

Formación

• 8+ years of IT experience managing storage and backup in complex environments.
• Experience with block and file storage across multiple vendors (NetApp, Dell).
• Expertise with Dell Avamar, PPDM, Data Domain, and Veeam products.
• Strong troubleshooting across storage and backup stacks.
• Know-how of storage networking (Cisco/Brocade, FC/iSCSI).
• Scripting and automation with Python, Ansible or Terraform.

Responsabilidades

• Design and deploy storage and backup architectures aligned with business needs and RPO/RTO targets.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Storage & Backup Engineer based in Spain.

We are looking for an experienced Storage & Backup Engineer to design, implement, and maintain enterprise-level storage and data protection infrastructure. You will oversee critical storage systems, backup platforms, and recovery solutions in complex, heterogeneous IT environments. The role combines architecture, engineering, hands-on administration, and advanced troubleshooting to ensure infrastructure remains secure, resilient, and highly available. You will contribute to infrastructure projects, technology migrations, capacity planning, and service improvements while supporting demanding operational requirements. Working alongside infrastructure teams and technical stakeholders, you will help strengthen disaster recovery capabilities and optimize day-to-day operations. This is an opportunity to take ownership of critical infrastructure services in an international, remote-friendly environment.

Accountabilities

You will be responsible for the engineering, administration, and continuous improvement of enterprise storage and backup environments, ensuring reliable service delivery and effective data protection. Your main responsibilities will include:

• Architecture and implementation: Design and deploy enterprise storage and backup architectures aligned with business requirements, availability targets, recovery objectives, capacity needs, and security standards.

• Infrastructure administration: Manage and maintain storage arrays, SAN fabrics, and backup platforms, including health checks, storage provisioning, host integration, backup client configuration, scheduling, retention policies, and replication.

• Infrastructure lifecycle management: Plan and execute installations, upgrades, migrations, capacity expansions, and proof-of-concept deployments, including testing, validation, and rollback procedures.

• Performance monitoring and optimization: Monitor system health, performance, capacity, and backup success rates; identify bottlenecks and implement improvements.

• Advanced technical support: Resolve incidents, problems, and service requests, provide Tier 3 support, lead root-cause analyses, and implement corrective and preventive measures.

• Backup and disaster recovery: Perform data restoration and recovery tests, participate in disaster recovery exercises, and validate data protection and recovery capabilities.

• Security and compliance: Apply infrastructure security controls, hardening standards, and approved configuration changes in accordance with established policies and change-management procedures.

• Vendor and stakeholder collaboration: Coordinate with vendors and internal support teams on maintenance, upgrades, interoperability, and complex technical issues.

• Automation and scripting: Develop and maintain scripts and tools to automate provisioning, monitoring, reporting, and routine storage and backup operations.

• Project delivery: Deliver infrastructure projects for internal and partner environments, including technical assessments, business cases, project proposals, and operational handovers.

• Technical documentation: Maintain architecture designs, configuration records, operational runbooks, and recovery procedures while sharing knowledge and promoting best practices.

• Operational coverage: Participate in standby and on-call rotations, planned maintenance activities, and other service-coverage arrangements when required.

Requirements

The ideal candidate brings extensive hands-on experience managing enterprise storage and backup infrastructure, combined with advanced troubleshooting capabilities and a proactive approach to service improvement. You should be comfortable working independently in complex technical environments while collaborating effectively with other teams. Key requirements include:

• At least 8 years of relevant IT experience managing, configuring, and supporting enterprise storage and backup environments in complex, heterogeneous infrastructures.

• Extensive experience administering and troubleshooting block and file storage systems across multiple vendors, such as NetApp, Dell PowerStore, and Dell ECS.

• Strong expertise in enterprise backup platforms, including Dell Avamar, PowerProtect Data Manager (PPDM), Data Domain, Veeam Backup & Replication, or comparable solutions.

• Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across storage and backup infrastructures.

• Strong knowledge of storage networking technologies, including Cisco and Brocade fabric switches, VSANs, WWPNs, NPIV, multipathing, Fibre Channel, and iSCSI.

• Solid understanding of data protection, backup management, disaster recovery, and infrastructure resilience best practices.

• Good knowledge of networking technologies.

• Practical experience with shell scripting and automation tools such as Python, Ansible, or Terraform.

• Ability to work under pressure, manage priorities, and deliver results with minimal supervision.

• Customer-focused approach to technical delivery, incident resolution, and service improvement.

• Good understanding of ITIL service management methodologies.

• Professional proficiency in English; Spanish is an advantage.

Nice-to-have qualifications

• Experience with Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) or Software-Defined Storage solutions.

• Strong presentation skills and the ability to explain complex technical topics to non-technical audiences.

• Experience with service reporting and business analytics.

• Familiarity with cloud storage solutions such as AWS S3 or Azure Blob Storage.

• Experience with virtualization technologies, including VMware or Hyper-V.

• Industry-recognized certifications in storage, backup, or cloud technologies.

• Certifications in programming or scripting technologies such as Python, Ansible, or PowerShell.

• ITIL, ISO 20000, or PRINCE2 certifications.
