Job summary

Siemens Spain is seeking a Staff System Reliability Engineer to lead reliability, observability, and production readiness across multiple teams. You will set the technical direction, build shared tooling and standards, and guide engineers through hands-on expertise with a focus on scalable, secure, and resilient systems.

You will own SLIs/SLOs, drive progressive rollout, and mentor teams to embed reliability as a core part of development and delivery. Strong English communication is required.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software, systems, or site reliability engineering, owning distributed production services.

Responsibilities

• Own reliability strategy, define SLIs, SLOs and error budgets for critical journeys and services.
• Own operational readiness across availability, performance, recoverability, and secure operations.
• Design, build, and evolve the observability model with dashboards, alerts, and synthetic checks.
• Review architectures and code for partial failure, idempotency, backpressure, and safe degradation.
• Engineer safe delivery through progressive rollout, automated verification, rollback, and safe config changes.
• Own capacity and performance engineering with regular backup, restore, and disaster-recovery tests.
• Lead high-severity incident response and blameless post-incident reviews with root-causes and fixes.
• Reduce operational toil with automation, self-service, and auditability while preserving least privilege.
• Mentor engineers in production ownership and promote reliability as a team responsibility.
