Job summary

Siemens Spain seeks a Staff System Architect to define end‑to‑end platform architecture for a multi‑service environment. You will stay hands‑on for prototyping and code reviews, guiding architecture decisions and influencing teams without direct reports.

You will own the target state, translate enterprise goals into system designs, and lead across teams to ensure security, scalability, and cost efficiency. Hybrid work in Valencia is available with generous learning opportunities.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering and architecture across multiple systems.
• Experience with ADRs, C4 or similar architectural models, threat modeling.
• Distributed systems design, event-driven architectures, scalability and reliability.
• Data and security architecture including RBAC/ABAC, IAM and SSO.
• AWS multi-service designs with infrastructure as code (Terraform or CDK).
• Hands-on engineering in at least one modern language (Go, Java, Kotlin, C#, Rust, Python, TypeScript).
• Ability to lead architectures and influence across teams without direct authority.

Responsibilities

• Own the target architecture and the roadmap from today’s landscape to it.
• Translate enterprise architecture into concrete system designs with constraints and trade-offs.
• Design component and data architecture with serverless, containers, and managed cloud services.
• Define APIs, interfaces, and contracts with clear ownership and SLAs.
• Establish data boundaries and versioned interfaces between systems.
• Architect security and identity, including role flows and audit trails.
• Set targets for performance, availability, scale, and cloud cost.
• Record decisions and maintain trustworthy architecture documentation.
• Lead technically across teams, reviewing designs and prototyping risky components.
