Wasmer is hiring a senior systems engineer to build WASIX, an OS-emulation layer for WebAssembly. You will design and implement syscall semantics, threading, filesystems, and networking on top of Wasm, collaborating with the Wasmer runtime.

You should have 5+ years in Linux internals or low-level runtimes, strong Rust, fluency in C, and a passion for OS design. This is a fully remote role with CET±2 timezone and open-source impact.

Formación

• 5+ years of systems-level engineering experience with real-world work on Linux internals or comparable low-level runtimes.
• Genuine interest in OS and hypervisor design with opinions about scheduler behavior, memory models, or syscall interfaces.
• Proven Rust experience, fluent C, and ability to navigate large, unfamiliar codebases.
• Deep knowledge of POSIX: processes, signals, sockets, file descriptors, and memory management.

Responsabilidades

• WASIX itself — design and implement syscall semantics, process and threading models, virtual filesystems, and networking stacks on top of WebAssembly.
• The Wasmer runtime — work on sandboxing, scheduling, and memory-management machinery for many Wasm processes.
• Port and run Unix software unmodified on WASIX and fix issues that arise.
• Contribute to open source by shipping work publicly in Wasmer repositories.
