Job summary

Nextpower is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design of switchgear and inverter enclosures. You will develop the physical architecture, optimize packaging, and ensure heat dissipation meets reliability and safety standards.

Collaboration with electrical and software teams is essential to deliver robust, manufacturable solutions. The role requires 8+ years in mechanical design of capital goods or power electronics, with fluency in English and Spanish.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; master-level specialization is a plus.
Experience in mechanical design of capital goods or electrical equipment.
Proficiency with 3D CAD tools and thermal/structural simulation software.

Responsibilities

3D modelling and drawings of enclosures, support structures, ventilation ducts, and busbar mounting.
Perform CFD thermal simulations to optimize heat sinks and cooling systems.
Conduct FEA to validate strength against transport stresses, earthquakes, impacts and vibrations.
Select materials considering cost, weight, corrosion and dielectric properties.
Apply DFMA to ensure watertightness and manufacturability of equipment.
