Greenpeace International is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the engine room operations on our fleet and oversee the new build in Vigo, Spain, with the vessel delivery planned for October 2027. The starting date is October 2026 in the shipyard, and the role requires strong leadership and adherence to safety and environmental policies.

Formación

• STCW Chief Engineer A-III/2 unlimited certification is required.
• Experience with methanol/LFL fuel and IGF Code certification is desirable.
• Experience in shipyard takeovers or new build projects is desirable.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse crews.
• Commitment to Greenpeace values and campaigns.

Responsabilidades

• Monitor new vessel construction in collaboration with shipyard supervision team.
• Attend progress meetings with shipyard, site and remote teams.
• Familiarise with new ship systems and assist planned maintenance.
• Ensure safe operation and maintenance of engine plant and equipment at sea and in port.
• Maintain engine logbooks and monthly reports to Technical Manager.
• Set up engine room watches and issue clear instructions to staff.
• Ensure compliance with MARPOL and Greenpeace environmental policy.
