Greenpeace International in Madrid, MD, ES, seeks a Chief Engineer for an on-site role in a major new vessel project. The position covers supervision of engine room construction in the shipyard, as well as onboard responsibility for safe operation and maintenance of engine systems during campaigns and in port.

The ideal candidate holds valid STCW Chief Engineer credentials (A-III/2, unlimited) and has shipyard experience, with a focus on safety and environmental compliance.

Formación

• Valid STCW certificates for a Chief Engineer (STCW A-III/2, unlimited).
• Desirable experience with methanol / LFL fuel; IGF Code certification is a plus.
• Desirable previous shipyard vessel takeover experience.

Responsabilidades

• Oversee engine room construction in collaboration with shipyard supervision teams.
• Attend meetings with shipyard, site and remote teams on build progress.
• Familiarise with ship systems and assist in planned maintenance for the new build.
• Ensure safe operation and maintenance of engine plants both at sea and in port.
• Supervise engine room staff, including mechanics and fitters/welders.
• Maintain engine logs and monthly reports; coordinate spares and inventory.
